MX Linux und Antix basieren beide auf Debian. Nach meiner Erfahrung bedeutet das: veraltete, meist ungepflegte Software, schlechte Kommunikation und Elitarismus*.

Ich bin jetzt schon über ein Jahr bei Solus in der Plasma Edition. Bedeutet:
- aktuelle, aber getestete Software
- klare Kommunikation jede Woche über Entscheidungen und Updates
- keine 60.000 Pakete ohne Pflege, sondern ausgewählte, aber für den Desktop ausreichend viele, gepflegte Pakete.
Es gibt auch eine Xfce Edition, die sollte besser laufen als LM.

* Zitat: "Wenn du mit Debian nicht klar kommst, dann ist Linux nichts für dich." Tatsache ist, dass Solus bei mir läuft wie geschnitten Brot. Und das war nur einer von mehreren Erfahrungen. Wahrscheinlich tue ich vielen Debian-Nutzenden damit unrecht, aber die sind mir bei Problemlösungssuche nie begegnet. 🤷‍♂️

Seems like it's an issue with the #Manjaro @manjarolinux installer. It was misidentifying my location and screwed up the bootloader. I switched to #Solus for the time being and that loaded with no issues.

Last night, I tried installing the #KDE #Plasma edition of #Manjaro #Linux on my laptop, over the #Xfce version. I got an error 32 notice stating there was an issue with the bootloader.

So I tried going back to Xfce. Same deal.

Not sure if it's an issue with the new Manjaro installers or what. Tempted to try a different distro, maybe #Solus. But I'd rather stick with what I know.

Ich liebe freie Software. Sie ermöglicht mir ein sinnvolles, nachhaltiges Arbeiten mit geprüfter, vertrauenswürdiger Software. Ohne Werbung, ohne KI-Slop und ohne Daten-Kraken.
Dafür spende ich auch regelmäßig an mir wichtige Projekte, was mir ein großes Anliegen ist.

- KDE mit Plasma Desktop, KDE Frameworks und KDE Gear.

- Die curated-rolling-release Distribution Solus.

- Das Grafikprogramm Inkscape für Unterrichtsmaterialien.

- Xournal++ für handschriftliche Notizen wie Lösungen von Arbeitsblättern und Klassenarbeiten.

- Qt Creator zur Entwicklung meiner Apps Notenkontor, Farbspektrum, Vektorrechner usw..

Ich habe den "Vorteil", dass ich als Lehrkraft meine Werkzeuge recht frei wählen kann.

Von der Schule bekomme ich zwar iPad und MicroSlop für schulinterne Dinge vorgeschrieben,

aber Unterrichtsplanung, Materialerstellung und Noten mache ich mit Linux-Distribution #solus, LibreOffice, Inkscape, Notenkontor,... 👍

Ich würde mich auch nie trauen, Noten mit Apple oder MicroSlop zu machen. Da bin ich direkt im Knast. 😰

Wo ist Solus? 😤
Die bisher beste mir bekannte Distribution, weil sie Stabilität mit Aktualität kombiniert, dazu transparent über Updates informiert und sinnvolle Entscheidungen trifft!

So stabil und benutzbar war noch nichts, weder das elitäre Debian noch fedora, openSUSE,...; und ich wüsste auch garnicht, was ich anderes benutzen soll, sollte Solus eines Tages eingestellt werden. 😰
