Anyone here ever have a Thinkpad L series? I'm looking at the L14 as a daily driver for Linux, and I'm curious if it is as solid as the T series, like the T14. I don't want something that's going to break and be unfixable.

I have decided I'm aiming for a #Lenovo #T14 or #T14S for my birthday. I spent $400 on my current machine, a used #T480s, but the screen sucks (and camera and speakers, but... enh), and I haven't bought a *new* laptop for ten years.

But I'm going to buy *used*, dammit! There are a zillion pre-owned laptops in the world, and #Linux runs on all of them.

So this year, I'm giving myself the gift of being really fuckin' smug about my computer.

For information, Lenovo seems to be rolling out a firmware update for "embedded controller" for Lenovo T14 AMD Gen5. This firmware is managed by fwupdmgr, and is seen as version 0.1.8. It leads to the Qualcomm Technologies, Inc QCNFA765 Wireless Network Adapter (rev 01) beeing not seen anymore at all even with recent kernels.
Reverting to 0.1.6 with the bootable image from https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-t-series-laptops/thinkpad-t14-gen-5-type-21mc-21md/21mc/21mccto1ww/pf556999/downloads/driver-list/component?name=BIOS%2FUEFI&id=5AC6A815-321D-440E-8833-B07A93E0428C (which doesn't tell you, because it would be too simple) solves the problem.

Currently still very happy with my #Thinkpad #T14 (Gen 1, AMD). At the time, ordering without an OS wasn't possible, so I settled for M$ Wind*ws, which I immediately replaced with #Fedora. From the ordering & payment procedure I got the impression that #Lenovo didn't really want to sell anything to me at all. Delivery took 8 weeks.

Da ist mir doch tatsächlich heute Morgen das Netzteil innerhalb meines Lenovo T14 gestorben. Jedenfalls erscheint es so: Lädt nicht mehr. Das weiße LED neben der USB-C-Buchse ist aus.

Das externe Netzteil und Kabel sind definitiv in Ordnung. Die laden gerade mein MacBook Pro, das ich ersatzweise verwende…
