One of my local volunteer projects is the library's website which I'm updating this morning as Cosmo waits for second breakfast.

Happily using #FreeSoftware: ghostwriter for markdown conversion to html. Then I'll use Kate to edit a couple html files then upload with Filezilla. #GNU #Linux @linuxmint and the Cinnamon DE. All running on a 2018 #Thinkpad bought for $250 on Ebay.

No need for new/expensive hardware from #apple.
No #malware from #Microsoft or #google

Recently, I encountered a rather surreal situation on my #thinkpad Z16 AMD where my #arch #linux system running #gnome would no longer accept my #password. 😲

As I have since discovered, this was caused by pam_fprintd and a fingerprint authentication process that was repeatedly failing without me noticing. 🫣😅

After having to reboot several times into an #emergencytarget, I have now completely disabled the fingerprint sensor. 🙃

Ich hab mal das Verbindungskabel DC02C00BC10 zwischen Mainboard und Panel als Ersatzteil bestellt. Hoffentlich hilft es...

Ein aufgeklapptes T40 Thinkpad. Das Display zeigt in einem oberen Streifen noch ein Bootmenü an, die unteren 4/5 zeigen nur senkrechte Streifen die nach unten dunkler werden, so als ob das Bild "herabfließen" würde.

Ok. I finally bought a new laptop (a #ThinkPad) and it should be coming hopefully soon. It's being held up right now, but I hope that gets resolved quickly because it would be nice to have some good computational power again. I did spend a good fortune on it, and I hope this lasts at least as long as my previous one (which I would've been using had it not died on me :(

I will also admit, this is part of the reason why I haven't been as active with @tenacity so much, but it's not the main reason. As I've hinted before, the main reason was due to personal issues, which are unfortunately still ongoing as of now. However, I am cautiously optimistic as of today, but since things are *very* volatile, that can change quickly.

One of these days I think I'll finally tell everyone what's going on, but I may still need some time before I'm ready to do that. Maybe I'll wait for some good developments first, but there's absolutely no guarantee if I'll even do it in the first place.

Anyways, thanks to all those who support me too! Every little bit of support in any form really helps, and it's thanks to you all that I keep going with the stuff I do! 😄

1995 #ThinkPad running a 2025 #Linux kernel! Testing SHORK 486 on real hardware is progressing, though there was a headache to overcome - SYSLINUX used the wrong register for a fallback memory detection test when e820 is unavailable/invalid. It prevented booting on certain devices, including this 365ED. Thanks to akeym on Discord for the fix! Now I get to use this fantastic IBM Model M6-1 buckling sleeve keyboard with a modern OS without orphaning the laptop!
