#PunkySkunk got a raw deal as a video game hero on account of his game coming out at exactly the wrong time. But some folks out there still remember, and so I drew him looking rather dashing for a skunk in a jumpsuit with a pogo stick. I love how this one came out!

When out of the armor, #Sparkster continues to stay in shape and ensure he can bear the weight of his responsibility for keeping Zebulos safe. This not only includes running and jumping, but hanging from trees and steel bars with his prehensile tail to free his arms to defend himself.

During the day, in a vast and open field with mountains in the distance, a yellow, semi-cartoonish opossum wearing gym shorts, compression sleeves and leggings, and running shoes uses his tail to hang from the long branch of a tree. His tail is thick and curled multiple times around the branch, and he hangs upside down with his hands behind his head, his legs spread, and a smile at the viewer, showing off the muscles in his chest and arms. At this point, #Sparkster is used to maintaining his own armor and jetpack. His wealth of experience has allowed him to do the same for his fellow knights and to train new knights and engineers in the art of keeping the Rocket Knights' equipment up to par.

Here's an experiment done in response to recent news in the art world. Image 1 is what I scribbled right before work yesterday morning. Image 2 is what those simple shapes turned into after I came home and reopened my art app. This is proof that all you need to create strange worlds is your imagination, something genAI and its proponents can never possess or understand.

In the middle of a desert at night, with sand, rice grass and rocks around their feet, two shapeshifters in the forms of muscular animal men stand beside each other in fighting stances with clenched fists ready to begin practice.

To one side, Mason Kirk, a kangaroo with a huge tail, deep red in color with a white underbelly and cyan eyes, stands with one arm tensed at his side, the other out in front, and his legs apart. Dressed in dark cyan with white accents, he is wearing only elbow and knee braces, a bandanna tied around his tail, fingerless gloves and ankle protectors, and a long loincloth. He is wide-hipped with markings that resemble top surgery scars, a pouch on his belly, and gigantic legs which end in long kangaroo feet with thick, sharp claws.

To the other side, Gale Fields, a big white hare with long black hair and red eyes, stands with his arms tensed and held behind and in front. Clad in deep red with black trimmings, he is only wearing compression sleeves, gym shorts with a black belt tipped in red tied in front, and ankle protectors. He is profoundly stocky, with a big muscle gut on display, hips and legs so built that they render his shorts form-fitting, and long, thick rabbit's feet tipped with big claws.

The image is signed "TGH! 2025" and the address "thegreenherring.neocities.org" appears in the corner of the image.

Given the issue of pre-formatting ASCII art which I intended to use on my site's navbar, I searched for "font emulating ASCII art" and stumbled upon this great article written by @adelfaure for @velvetyne , titled "About ASCII art and Jgs font":

Both the article content I quickly glanced at, and the look and feel of Velvetyne's site, made me abandon my search and detour immediately into reading the whole article. And I loved it!

I've been a long time fan of what I now learned may be more precisely referred to as "Textmode Art" -- ever since my childhood encounters with various bulletin board software which would always be tagged by amazing ASCII and ANSI art and positively bangin' electronic beats!

Not only does the article have an engaging overview of the history of textmode art and what it is, but it also links to some prolific communities like Sixteen Colors ( https://16colo.rs/ ) -- whereupon I found this amazing ANSI art piece attached featured.

At a local bar, two genderfluid shapeshifters assuming feminine forms while wearing glasses and dresses are at the counter.

One of them is a smiling green fishperson with a long and thick tail, wearing red-rimmed glasses in a red side-slit dress with black rubber straps, trimming and corset; long red gloves with black trims; and red thigh-high boots with black trimming and instep as well as exposed ankles and toes.

The other person is a small, smirking, golden fennec fox with antennae, a black jewel in their forehead and a massive bushy tail, as well as black fur on their arms and legs suggesting gloves and stockings, and a tuft of black fur on their chin. They are wearing blue-rimmed glasses, a blue collar, a long blue dress, gold bracelets and anklets, and gold rings on their fingers and toes.

The fish is resting one hand on the counter and beckoning the viewer with their other hand as they pull up a stool for the viewer to sit on using their tail; while the fox is sitting on the counter propped up with one arm and the other resting on their raised knee, their skirt falling over the edge.

It's not easy to fit a pleasant vista into precisely 256 text characters, but I did it for "A Pleasant Vista", my entry into the jam-packed Text Graphics Competition at @lovebyteparty 2025!
