Have you ever wished you could see history unfold? 👀🏛️✨ Our new project uses AI to transform historical texts into vivid visual representations, making "lost" stories accessible to all.
Imagine exploring ancient cities, witnessing key events, or even stepping into the shoes of historical figures! While far from perfect, "Re-Experiencing History" aims to create a historically plausible visualisation of past events with the latest AI tools.
Our canvas allows students, researchers, and the general public to use specifically fine-tuned multimodal language models to generate and edit images to re-live past moments.

Visual Learning and the Graphic Syllabus in Five Questions
I am working with a few faculty on campus who are looking to adopt a graphic syllabus. This brief posting is basically a recording of that conversation for online reference. Those who have read this blog for a while know that I have done a lot of work over the years in vis

I am beginning to think that my learning style- visual & kinesthetic influences my ability to do podcasts & audio books. The only time that they work for me is when I am driving. If I am in the garden, out for a walk or working at my computer I cannot focus on audio. When I did a brief survey many folks like to multi-task while in the garden. But when I am with nature. I am completely there. Wonder how much others are missing. #Nature #gardening #visuallearning Do you hear the birds sing?
There is a clear advantage to dynamic and interactive programming environments that support introspection to the finest detail for reasons captured simply in this diagram. You will struggle to create any representation of a running program in a majority of 'modern' programming languages, simply because they and their implementations are not (or designed to be) interactive systems. This means a lot for the accessibility of programming in the future, it is very hard to imagine creating a visual (or other accessible) programming environment that can run on top of existing implementations and still be as powerful, especially using languages without re/compilation semantics available in the runtime. For this we have to look at the recent past (Common Lisp, Self & Squeak)
Figure 1. A program as a description: Traditionally, a program is thought of as describing objects to be created at run-time. Because it is a description, it can be directly used in many worlds of objects. For example, the stack class shown here could be used in many separate worlds of objects. But, being a description, the program cannot be directly used to visualize the objects in a running program; the programmer must make a mental leap.
