They correctly identify #BuildingCodes and #zoning as 2 of the most potent levers under their control!
They were excited about solar and EVs, however they were worried about backlash for banning gas stoves or making driving more expensive. We have to keep changing the politics here.

The #EPA recently announced $100 million in #climatechange #climateadapation funding for communities to address longstanding #environmentaljustice concerns.
I'm particularly excited about the EJCPS Cooperative Agreement Program which aims to provide grants to develop solutions for environmental and public health issues in local communities.

No one talks about #utilities and what a monopoly they are. They are free to charge people outrageous amounts while they enrich shareholders. They don't get paid to do maintenance so they let their infrastructure crumble. They have enormous influence in state legislatures because they contribute so much to political campaigns. They are a failing system whose infrastricture won't withstand #climatechange The commissions that were formed to regulate them are controlled by them. It must change.

I went for a family hike today at the creek near our house. On the way back we saw a bald eagle sweep down over the creek, presumably looking for ducks.

The USPS fleet is easily one of the best fits for EVs: Predictable routes, predictable miles, easy to schedule/coordinate charging, and constant stop and go with low speeds, which is perfect for regenerative braking (sends power back to the battery.)
This will have a positive impact on climate change, and reduce air pollution, noise pollution, and save money in the long run on fuel and maintenance.
Biden (and Podesta)- getting it done again. This is what a desire to govern and make things better can result in - progress. A willingness to cooperate and negotiate is crucial, of course.
Lots of people pushed back hard on the initial USPS plan keep things as they were. Thanks to everyone who pushed back.

Very excited to read about the #healthbenefits from this #climatelegislation, and from a #pediatrician's perspective, this is a big #environmentaljustice #climatejustice win, especially for #childhealth in our communities.
However, much work remains to be done & more legislation needs to be passed - such as the #NYS Climate, Justice, and Jobs Package being supported by #NYRenews. Climate legislation is public health legislation.
This week, the #NYS Climate Action Council released "the Scoping Plan" roadmap for reaching the greenhouse gas emission reduction goals enshrined in the 2019 Climate Leadership & Community Protection Act.
It's expected to yield at least $115 billion in net benefits from improved public health and avoided damages from climate change, & create up to 211,000 jobs by 2030 and up to 318,000 by 2040.
