The power went out at 4:45 AM in parts of the East Riverside-Oltorf neighborhood in Austin. Apparently outages to 50,000 customers around Austin are localized, presumably caused by ice.

As someone who is hard of hearing, unintelligible speech on TV and film is a pet peeve of mine. And it’s not just on the screen, it’s also a problem on the stage, even on Broadway.
It starts with the actor and, as an actor, it’s something I strive to improve at: “natural” speech that is intelligible.

I think it was 60 years ago, in 1963, when I was five years old, that I saw my first stage musical, Oklahoma! My sister was in the chorus. It returns to that same high school stage later this month.
It had a deep and lasting impact on me.

I got to see Linoleum at #SXSW last year and I’m glad to see it finally in distribution. My note back then was “heartwarming.” Starring Jim Gaffigan and Rhea Seehorn (aka Kim Wexler from Better Call Saul).

I am sorry to report the passing of Austin-based casting director Donise L. Hardy, CSA.
Donise began her casting career in California in 1991 & moved to Austin in 1999. She was previously a fashion model, an actor, a baby booker, & a talent agent.
Throughout her career, Donise taught classes in commercial audition technique & published “Acting Career Basics: On-Camera Audition & Industry Tips” in 2016.
My deepest sympathies to all who knew and adored her. ❤️😢

@megsouth I did do a little “window shopping” and I can get a 1BR condo in ABQ for a bit less than the cost of a 50-y/o 400 sqft roach-infested efficiency in ATX with intermittent garbage collection and intermittent hot water. Condo fees are lower in ABQ, too.
