I don't know about the latest Ryzen ones, but so far I've only seen good reviews concerning the 2000 series on Linux. Maybe on launch it'll be bad, it was with the first gen at the beginning but patches were quickly deployed.
As for myself, I'm rocking a Threadripper 1950X on my main rig (running Linux) and it works flawlessly.

So #Ryzen3000 series are out. We're seeing +15 % IPC and clocks up to 4.6 GHz.
A massive hit with the Ryzen 9 3900X and its 12c/24t beating out Intel's i9-9920X (also 12c/24t) HEDT CPU for less than half the price ($500 against $1200).
And those are consumer-grade CPUs !

What do you guys think ?
I personally think it's a great leap that will benefit us all, especially those of us (like me) that are core-hungry on a daily basis.

A couple of years ago Microsoft bashed Linux and now it's embracing it ? That's fishy.

So #Microsoft integrated a #Linux #kernel into #Windows.

Any thoughts ?

In my opinion, it's not a good sign for #Linux and the #FOSS community (in the long term) as #Microsoft is trying to "own" everything that's #open-source and link it to their #proprietary stuff.

#Intel stuck on the 14 nm process, no 10 nm until 2021 ! #AMD bringing 7 nm CPUs in mid-2019.
Let's see if Intel will keep overpricing their CPUs ...

Though, I was specifically talking about the X58, as for the newer stuff, AMD is definitely the value king right now. :)

Yes, #Intel. I care about price/performance ratio, and the X58 can yield a pretty good one if one knows where to look. But for the current new market, AMD is the way to go.
My main rig has an #AMD #Threadripper 1950X which is a beast.

Got myself a nice X58 #motherboard with a #Xeon X5650 coupled with 24 GB of #DDR3 #RAM. #Amazing #deal !
Despite its age, the X58 platform still kicks it with its triple channel memory as well as incredibly good #overclocking capabilities (from 2.66 GHz base 3.06 GHz boost to a whopping 4.5 GHz all the time with decent cooling).
I'll be using it as a secondary rig.

Do you guys also love old but gold platforms like the X58 from #Intel ?
