Close-up photograph of two delicate, pale-capped mushrooms growing in a natural woodland setting. The mushrooms, with their smooth, off-white caps and slender stems, stand out against the dark, earthy background. Surrounding them are vibrant green blades of grass and blurred foliage, creating a soft, natural bokeh effect. The lighting highlights the texture of the mushroom caps and the contrast between the green grass and the shadowy forest floor. The scene captures the quiet, intricate beauty of fungi thriving in their damp, shaded habitat.

Fungi on fungi for .

These striking filaments are the reproductive structures of Spinellus fusiger, a parasitic fungus commonly known as bonnet or pin mould. It lives by infecting host mushrooms, producing thread-like sporangiophores that end in minute spore capsules, giving the mushrooms a fuzzy, pincushion-like appearance.

A single, slender mushroom emerges from a lush bed of moss and lichen. Its dark brown, conical cap is covered in a striking halo of fine, radiating white filaments that resemble delicate hairs or threads spreading outwards in all directions. These filaments are the reproductive structures of Spinellus fusiger, a parasitic fungus commonly known as bonnet or pin mould. They catch the light, creating a bright, spiky effect around the mushroom's cap. The mossy ground is a vivid shade of green, with soft textures and various pale green lichens scattered throughout. The background is softly blurred with green and brown tones.

A close up photograph of a small mushroom. The is nothing else visible in the photo. The cap of the mushroom is quite steeply conical with a rounded top, and edges at the bottom flaring out, giving it a bell shape. The ends of the gills are visible at the edge.

It is light brown with radial stripes/creases that are darker, and the cap is lighter around the edge, almost white.

The stem is thin and a bit blurry.

The background is entirely blurry and mostly dark but a lighter brown shade towards the left.

A macro photograph of 2 small mushrooms on a tree branch. The small, white mushrooms are pressed right up against each other, and the branch cuts a diagonal line through the frame. The background is filled with the deep greens of the forest.
