On Thursday, @gyptazy provided a talk about #BoxyBSD at the "Virtualization Gathering" at @credativde.

@gyptazy provided some more information about the BoxyBSD project, but also about the history and infrastructure including the switches of #FreeBSD #Jails, #bhyve and #Proxmox (#kvm). Afterwards, additional information about the #Sylve project were shared and why this is so important and interesting and could make BoxyBSD return to bhyve based #virtualization.

Dann sind für alle evangelische #Kirchengemeinden der #Nordkirche die Microsoft 365-Produkte und die Microsoft Cloud vorgeschrieben.

Ich hätte da einen weiteren Vorschlag: Das Microsoft-Logo auf dem Kreuz als neues Symbol packen.

Bitte schön weiterverbreiten. Ein Bann durch @Kirche ist garantiert (ich bin da in der Blockliste gelandet)

This morning, as the zfs-send/receive had finished its job during the night, I performed the last sync and moved FediMeteo from the previous 4 euros/month VPS - netcup - to a 4 euros/month VPS - OVH, Milano, Italy.

Thanks to #BastilleBSD and the jail setup, it was easy peasy.

So, the weather forecasts are now broadcast from Italy and the performance has skyrocketed - while still being served by a 4 euro/month VPS.

I suspect the netcup VM had been capped by the provider - but I'll investigate.

@jhx Since $LIFE forces me to use Linux for work (instead of *BSD or Solaris), I chose Debian, but with a ZFS root pool and native ZFS encryption. This is certainly not "vanilla" Debian ;-) #zfs

@stefano NetBSD for servers, FreeBSD for desktops, and $WORK has some firewalls running on OpenBSD.

@thomholwerda Glad the package has arrived. You should be able to create "ZFS recovery snapshots" and "zfs send" them somewhere. If you pipe in a bzip2, they will compress nicely.
Assuming that you have a ZFS rpool ofc. #Solaris #ZFS
