Another round of Tripping Daisy!

Their second album, which most people remember for the quirky, sore thumb accidental hit “I Got A Girl”, which, as I discussed with a commenter on my PREVIOUS Daisy post, is far more novel and goofy than the rest of the material on the record.

ELASTIC is a good way to describe this album. Incredible dynamics, as the songs snake and shift from one place to another, all the while wielding that Daisy melodicism.

Tim DeLaughter has such a signature voice. When you hear it, you know it’s him. It couldn’t possibly be any one else. I think THIS record is Tim’s best record vocally. He’s phenomenal here. Particularly on “Piranha”, the album’s other kind-of “hit”.

Tripping Fucking Daisy, man.
One of my most beloved bands from my childhood. I’ve been with them since the beginning, starting with this, their first album.

Catchy, #psychedelic #90s rock that I was all-in on the second I heard “Blown Away” and “On The Ground”.
And those two songs come only after one of the most catchiest 1-2 punches to open ANY record of that era in “My Umbrella” and “One Through Four”.

Their first THREE albums are complete masterpieces, and of those, I’m only missing Jesus Hits Like The Atom Bomb on vinyl.

Sonically wonderful, cut at 45rpm, this has been one of my favorite releases of the past decade. The seven vinyl variants from 2023 were the first ever pressings of this incredible album.

Might have to do Elastic Firecracker next.
