This time I talk how I am blocking ads and trackers from all my devices, including mobile phones. I do that using PiHole and Tailscale, and thanks to using Tailscale the whole setup process is very simple, any device I add to my private network gets adblocking automagically.

Brave Adds Custom Element Blocking on Android
Brave now allows Android users to block specific web page elements via a new "Block element" feature in Shields. Accessible under Advanced Controls, it lets you tap and remove unwanted content. You can manage or reset blocked items and even add custom filters via brave://settings/shields/filters.

This is my solution to both store #adguard conf in code and continuously deploy it on many nodes. I also proposed some solutions to easily gather metrics and switch off/on ad protection. Everything is written in README.

AdGuard 1.0 is now available for Linux with CLI-based ad blocking, app exclusions, and proxy support.

However, as proprietary software, it lacks full privacy control.

For a better solution, I still recommend uBlock Origin — open-source, privacy-respecting, and feature-rich.

Finally upgrading the homelab of my brother. It's not that big an installation but it will upgrade them to a setup that is much more reliable and at least a bit more #selfhosted then before. Especially in terms of DNS and #adblocking So:

- new switch (16 ports)
- old 8 port moved to upper floor
- Raspi4 + #PiHole + Wireguard as remote support VPN get replaced
- new mini #Proxmox host with #PiHole as LXC Container and #Tailscale for remote support.

That's also more flexible for more stuff later

@EveHasWords and that's why I consider #AdBlocking an act of #SelfCare...

I recently changed to a fritz box router and pinole has decided not to work anymore...

Anyone got any ideas? I can access the web interface but DND doesn't work from at least some of my devices...

I'll probs be changing my pis which host all my services to use k3s soon so will probs reinstall OS then, in case that makes any difference.

The new router did change my gateway btw, I think all the devices use the correct one now though.

I was a bit gutted that my blogs were erased when my server died. I have re-written this one about my AGH setup

Perhaps it will help someone install a network wide ad-blocker or help improve their own setup. It isn't perfect but it does the job for me.
What I recall was important from the last time: I do not have or run it on a Raspberry Pi or equivalent. It's an old laptop running PopOS and a virtual machine running Yunohost.
