Учора майже весь день витратив на дебаг #AWS #ElasticBeanstalk #nodejs додатка. Розробники, леніві дупи, досі використовують ноду 8 (OMG), в той час, як платформа підтримує мінімально 14+. Тож доводиться на #AmazonLinux ставити nodejs 8 через скрипт nodesource. Проблема зʼявилась нещодавно - скрипт перестав працювати.
Викрутився тим, що з робочого сервера підкинув файли
/etc/yum.repos.d/nodesource-el7.repo та #GPG ключ до нього.
Поки працює, але обматюкав девов та сказав, щоб оновлювали код

Намагаюсь додати репліку в кластер #mongo, де розмір бази під 3ТБ. Вирішив створити #AMI зображення та підняти нову репліку з неї. Але новий #EC2 сервер не запустився з помилкою
error 24: Attempt to access block outside partition
Промучався 2 години та вдалось запустити сервер змінивши дефолтну версію кернела, який запускався через #grub. Чому не запускався сервер на останній версії кернела - загадка, мабуть треба патч ноути читати

Any #Zabbix users who have installed agent/proxy on #AmazonLinux 2023?
Trying to install RHEL8 or RHEL9 packages fails with one or another library dependency unsatisfied.

AL release notes do not show the needed library for the RHEL9 package (openldap 2.6) being available in recent versions.

Amazon Linux 2 is built from EL7/CentOS 7 roots. So you can use EPEL 7 fine. But it's coming. To EOL.

Amazon Linux 2023 is all their own. So you can only run what they build for you and there's no Amazon-Linux-Extras for newer python/node etc. So you will need to compile everything else from source yourself.

We're probably going AlmaLinux8/9 instead now.

Is that about right? Because it means there really isn't an upgrade path. When you attempt to move to AL2, you find out so much is missing it is like build-your-own OS.

I spent about a literal hour yesterday scouring the web for a higher-res — not even high-res; I was content to settle for anything bigger than 150px — logo for #AmazonLinux yesterday. Came up short. Baffling how there's just …nothing.

Started out on the #Amiga in the 1990s, almost entirely #Linux since 2005 ( #gentoo , #fedora , #centos / #rhel , #amazonlinux ). Like #retrocomputing , mostly with #morphos , other Amiga-like OS's ( #aros ) and #retrogaming .
