Check out Apex Magazine’s Editor in Chief, Lesley Conner, reading “Everything in the Garden is Lovely” by Hannah Yang from Apex Magazine issue 143. This story is beautiful and heartbreaking and feels incredibly important at this moment in time.

Everything in teh Garden is Lovely by Hannah Yang, Read by Apex Magazine EIC Lesley Conner.

Stephen M.A.'s "The Owl", in this month's Apex Magazine, started out as a story about kids growing up mistreated in the Bible Belt, and by the end it had turned into a story that somehow put succinct words to every bit of rage and despair and disappointment I've felt about the pandemic, politics, and culture for the last four years. It's marvelous stuff, with an arresting and cathartic final image.

I'm catching up with my Apex Magazine subscription (years worth of magazines I've paid for but haven't read yet still sitting in a folder in my computer) and I came across this story that I wanted to share.

It's a story of a Palestinian settlement on Mars that is then taken over by more Israeli colonization. It's a sad story, but an important one.

A conversation here over the past couple of days has made me think often of this review of one of my own stories, which has a special place in my heart because I think of it every time I start to believe I'll never be able to say what I want to say and be understood. littleredreviewer.wordpress.co #AmWriting #ShortStories #ApexMagazine
