Pues #Bitwarden Unified beta se convierte en Bitwarden Lite y sale de beta. Qué pasará con #Vaultwarden?

@telred17 to me the most annoying problem is retrieving variables from the terminal, it's a really painfully slow process (~3 seconds).
Hence why I use instead the unofficial rbw. Yet the fact I have to use an "unoffficial" app for something that sounds like BASIC functionality for a password manager, feels....very VERY wrong.
Also their own CLI, keeps requiring re-login all the time. Whereas RBW does not. RBW does all the stuff the right way for automatied usage of secrets like Hashicorp Vault yet a lot simplified.
Jesse Luehrs has made an incredibly good job (https://tozt.net/) @doy
Fellow humans: what are the pros and cons of 1Password vs Bitwarden? I’ve used BW for years but it sometimes feels a bit… hacky. I’m aware of VaultWarden but I’m not interested in self-hosting. I already pay the $10/yr for BW, so price isn’t really a factor. 1Password just looks more polished at first glance.
I use on BW.
- SSH auth via the BW agent
- environment vars via rbw.
- firefox extension, android app, ios app, linux desktop app
- rbw (unofficial BETTER client...one of the hacky parts) for the CLI.
- strong password generator all the time
- reports on reused passwds
Lightweight and flexible: #Bitwarden lite self-host deployment is now generally available

2025.12.0 Release Notes
@david #bitwarden #protonpass #dashlane c'est pas les alternatives qui manquent 😊
#BitWarden or #1Password (I’m primarily a Mac and iOS user)
#Apple 's password manager sucks ass - I don't use it, but my parents do. Even when they've made it a standalone app, it's still bad. I'd port my parents over to something like #Bitwarden/#Vaultwarden, but the only thing stopping me atm is how they're not really helpful in prompting you to add your new credentials to the app, or even assist you when creating one manually (i.e. no auto URL filled). I'm not sure if this is the case, but I wouldn't be so surprised if it's an #iOS limitation.
Bitwarden Unified renamed to Bitwarden Lite: update your deployment configurations
So far, I have used two password managers. #ProtonPass & #BitWarden & #KeePassDX. I use a Samsung device btw. None worked good for me to be honest. In case of Proton Pass, passwords don't show up while I'm on a signup or login page for me even when I have literally saved them! It's pretty frustrating. They show up like less than 20% of the time. And in case of Bitwarden, I installed it from Aurora Store and the app wasn't even working properly. I tapped on the buttons and they didn't react to my taps at all. So I deleted it and reinstalled from F-Droid through the Bitwarden F-Droid Repo. Then it worked the first time and only that time. I signed in to my account in Bitwarden. And also saved a few passwords. I closed the app. I went to some signup and login pages on my browser, but autofill didn't show up in this case either. Then I opened the app again. I entered my Master Password. But the Unlock button isn't responding even when I tapped on it again and again. In case of KeePassDX, the app won't respond to my taps at many times and again, passwords don't show up while I'm on a signup or login page.
And that's my experience. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

@Odaeus oh god, I only recently got my fam onto a #bitwarden family plan, which was no small feat... whyyyyy
Thinking of switching to #Proton as #Bitwarden has more and more stupid bugs that indicate a lack of any QA process. Seriously undermining my confidence that they won't be breached soon; especially with their giant #NPM graph.
Now I see they are using LLMs to write code (https://github.com/bitwarden/clients/blob/main/.claude/CLAUDE.md). That I know this is of course a benefit of #opensource but it's not really something I want to see in my password manager.
@swampgas the #bitwarden password generator has a checkbox to "Avoid ambiguous characters". I'm pretty sure I've seen similar on other generators
