I wished someone would claw the #sgi brand from #HPE's hands or at least do a #brand & #design licensing deal to remanufacture the classic #SiliconGraphics case designs but for modern mainboard form factors.

• Simply because many folks like myself like #Pizzabox-Style #PCcases and #Casemodding an original SGI part will get one hatemessaged by everyone.

Seriously, I'm shure there's some warehouse with the molds for those plastic cases or at the very least the geometry and design stuff...

Endlich fertig mit dem #Umbau des #Rechners... eigentlich wollte ich nur ein "bisschen Licht im Gehäuse". Ja, und wie das dann so ist, verselbstständigten sich die Dinge dann halt...

Der Rasperry Pi 4b hatte schon vor einiger Zeit sein eigenes hübsches, kleines Gehäuse bekommen, natürlich mit einem bunten Lüfter, Frau braucht halt Farbe!

Der PC (ein altes Servermainboard) bekam eine schicke Wasserkühlung und 32GB RAM als Upgrade verpasst, dazu noch 7 RGB-Lüfter, die über den ebenfalls neuen RGB-Controller miteinander verbunden sind.

Und irgendwie kamen wir dann auf die Idee, den Raspi in das PC-Gehäuse zu setzen... und da steht er nun. Alles nicht perfekt, aber das sollte es auch nie werden.

20 years ago I was happy to demonstrate Pegasos #powerpc hardware at #Assembly 2003 #demoparty. As I recall the demo was arranged at very last minute and the devices only arrived on 2nd day of the event. The systems were set up to run the latest beta build of our #MorphOS operating system. Considering the ad-hoc nature of the whole deal it went surprisingly well in the end. Finnish #Amiga User Group (SAKU) was helping with much of the arrangements as I recall.

One of the best head-turner was the Pegasos system built into a microwave. This system had LCD screen behind the front glass, so at some point we got the epic idea of taking an interior shot of a real microwave oven in action and replacing the desktop background image with it. People would walk by, glance at the microwave and then their minds would get bent as the perspective did not change as expected. This resulted in a ton of people coming over asking about the system and taking photos.

Ehrlich gesagt kann ichs nicht ganz nachvollziehen warum Fractal bei dem Case das ganze Frontcover als Mesh gestaltet, dann aber nur einen 120mm Lüfter dahinter pappt.
Da passen ohne Probleme auch zwei nebeneinander rein, und wenn man auf den unteren Laufwerksschacht verzichtet würden sogar zwei 140mm passen.

Zumal doch heute sowieso niemand mehr wirklich 5,25" Laufwerksschächte braucht 😅
