Buenos días. Hace poco me llegaron estas fotos de agosto de 1985 de mi primera ascensión al Monte Perdido. Recuerdo su espectacular glaciar que 40 años después agoniza sin remedio.

Hoy me he encontrado este picudo rojo en el olivar. Es raro porque ataca a las palmeras y por aquí no hay.
Leí que las hembras pueden desplazarse hasta 5 km en busca de parmeras para anidar.
La hembra del picudo rojo realiza la puesta dentro de grietas y heridas. Pone unos 300-400 huevos en pocos días y eclosionan en 3-4 días.
Las larvas se alimentan del tronco de la palmera practicando galerias. Cuando completan su desarrollo pupan en la base de las hojas (palmas) matando la palmera.
