Salgono a 5 le persone indagate per la morte di Alex Marangon, il 26enne di Marcon (Venezia) ritrovato senza vita il 2 luglio 2024 sul greto del fiume Piave, a Vidor, nel Trevigiano. Quattro delle cinque persone coinvolte nell’inchiesta della procura di Treviso erano già note: sono Andrea Zuin e la compagna Tatiana Marchetto, organizzatori dell’evento al quale Alex partecipò prima di scomparire, la notte tra il 29 ed il 30 giugno di due anni fa, quindi due cittadini colombiani Sebastian Castillo e Jhonny Benavides, oggi irreperibili e qualificati come “curanderos”.
Con loro, si apprende da il Gazzettino Veneto e la Tribuna di Treviso, è indagata Alexandra Da Sacco, moglie del proprietario dell’abbazia in cui si tenne l’incontro, nei suoi confronti aveva sporto querela la famiglia del giovane veneziano. Castillo e Benavides – stando all’ipotesi dei magistrati – avrebbero gestito il rito sciamanico compreso nell’evento al quale Marangon si era iscritto. Il 26enne, secondo la ricostruzione ipotizzata dalla magistratura, sarebbe precipitato sul letto ghiaioso del fiume da un terrapieno alto una decina di metri, probabilmente colto da una perdita di lucidità collegata all’assunzione di stupefacenti distribuiti nel corso del rito al quale partecipava una ventina di altre persone.
Gli indagati sono dunque accusati di cessione di sostanze vietate, tra cui cocaina, e morte come conseguenza di altro reato. I traumi riscontrati, inizialmente attribuiti ad un pestaggio, in seguito furono ritenuti dai consulenti compatibili con la caduta sul letto del fiume, in quel punto roccioso e poco profondo. Lo scorso luglio erano stati resi noti gli esiti degli esami tossicologici che avevano evidenziato la presenza di cocaina e ayahuasca nel sangue.

The number of people under investigation for the death of Alex Marangon has risen to five. The 26-year-old from Marcon (Venice) was found dead on the banks of the Piave River, in Vidor, in the province of Treviso, on July 2, 2024. Four of the five people involved in the Treviso prosecutor’s investigation were already known: Andrea Zuin and his partner Tatiana Marchetto, the organizers of the event to which Alex attended before disappearing, between the night of June 29th and 30th two years ago, and two Colombian citizens, Sebastian Castillo and Jhonny Benavides, who are currently untraceable and described as “curanderos.”
According to Il Gazzettino Veneto and La Tribuna di Treviso, Alexandra Da Sacco, the wife of the abbey owner where the meeting took place, is also being investigated. Her family filed a complaint against her. Castillo and Benavides – according to investigators’ hypothesis – would have conducted the shamanic ritual included in the event to which Marangon had registered. The 26-year-old, according to the reconstruction proposed by the magistrates, would have fallen from a man-made embankment approximately ten meters high onto the gravelly riverbed, likely due to a loss of clarity linked to the consumption of drugs distributed during the ritual that approximately twenty other people attended.
The suspects are accused of the illegal sale of drugs, including cocaine, and death as a result of another crime. The traumas initially attributed to an assault were later deemed compatible with a fall onto the riverbed, which is rocky and shallow at that point. Last July, the results of the toxicological tests revealed the presence of cocaine and ayahuasca in his blood.

Vendidos have dominated the region's history and stilted its development, with leaders

the Somozas of Nicaragua,
Rafael Trujillo in the Dominican Republic
— more than happy to side with the yanquis at the expense of their own countrymen.
Rubio belongs to this long, sordid lineup
— and in many ways, he’s the worst vendido of them all.
The thirst for power has a way of corrupting even the most idealistic hearts, alas.
Rubio ended up endorsing Trump in 2016,
supporting Trump’s claims that the 2020 election was rigged and proclaiming at the 2024 Republican National Convention that Trump
“has not just transformed our party, he has inspired a movement.”
Rubio’s reward for his boot-licking?
He sets our foreign policy agenda,
which is like putting an arsonist in charge of a fireworks stall.
I’m sure all of this comes off as leftist babble to the Venezuelan diaspora,
many of whom cheered Maduro's fate from Spain to Mexico, Miami to Los Angeles.
Only a deluded pendejo could support what Maduro wrought on Venezuela,
which was a prosperous country and a relatively stable U.S. ally for decades as the rest of South America teetered from one crisis to another.
But for Trump, toppling Maduro was never about the well-being of Venezuelans
or bringing democracy to their country;
it was about securing a foothold to flex American power and enrich the U.S.
Meanwhile, his deportation Leviathan has gobbled up tens of thousands of undocumented Venezuelans
and canceled the temporary protected status of hundreds of thousands more.
Back in 2022,
when Rubio was still a senator,
he advocated for Venezuelans to be eligible for temporary protected status,
which is granted to citizens of countries considered too dangerous to return to.
At the time, Rubio argued that
"failure to do so would result in a very real death sentence for countless Venezuelans who have fled their country."
Now?
At a May news conference,
he maintained that the 240 Venezuelans deported to El Salvador earlier in 2025
"were not migrants, these were criminals,"
-- even though the Deportation Data Project found that only 16% of them had criminal convictions.
Rubio has long fashioned himself as a modern-day Simón Bolívar,
the Venezuelan who led the liberation of South America from Spain
and who has been a hero to many Latinos ever since.
But even Bolívar knew to be skeptical of American hegemony,
writing in an 1829 letter that the U.S.
“seems destined by Providence to plague [Latin] America with miseries in the name of Freedom.”
Plague, thy name is Marco Rubio.
By pushing Trump to run rampant over Latin America,
you're setting in motion the same old song of U.S. meddling that ties your family and mine.
By letting Maduro's cronies remain in power if they play along with you and Trump,
even though they stole an election in 2024,
proves you're as much for the Venezuelan people as, well, Maduro.
Vendido.
