An anthology of websites that explore the poetics of the web: "the raw material of HTML, the systemic visuals of CSS, the endless interactive possibilities of Javascript and the browsers, servers, protocols, and infrastructure that holds it all together."

I'm trying to stick with one specific idea for a longer time period atm - currently building a modulo pattern generator - and experiment with it more, increasingly making use of randomness in combination with UI to find new patterns and tweak them.

I've taken the mindful creative pledge:

- Commit to fewer, better projects

- Seek out projects that fuel my soul

- Prioritize rest and self-care rather than glamorizing “the grind”

- Find joy in every step of the creative process

- Treat my fellow creatives as collaborators, not competitors

- Vet the platforms and tools I use to make my art

- Share knowledge and best practices to foster a culture of learning and mentorship

- Embrace the unique perspective I bring to my art and creativity

- Practice my craft by finishing the projects I start

- Use storytelling and creativity as a force for good

When you are building for the #web you might find yourself wanting to do things the "best" way or the "right" way.

Toss that aside.

You could spend several lifetimes trying to figure that out and by the time you did, the way would be different.

Instead - look at your skillset RIGHT NOW. Do you use jQuery, or tables, or iframes, or anything else you might feel embarrassed about? When building for the web if it's just your personal site or a fansite, do what you want that makes you feel happy.

You can always go back and revise and expand as your skillset grows.

The worst thing to do is have this creative paralysis where you don't create anything because you don't feel it's perfect.

Just ... have fun! Build something crappy, then revise it. Get feedback.

I'm all about doing web and game dev as a form of therapy. If something doesn't make you happy, go do something else. Especially if its in your leisure time.
