Years ago I saw a #meme: a person (kind of blurry?) sitting in a comfy chair in their living room with a stack of papers to grade. There was also an alcoholic #beverage on a side table. It said something like "Believe me, you want to be on the bottom of this stack."

I've looked but I can't find that meme. I need it.

I'm in the last throes of grading (intro #statistics team projects). I just graded two very bad projects--obviously thrown together (by a team of six people?) at the last minute--and the amount of #CYA I had to go through in response to complete half-assed lack of effort by someone else (on a lovely evening when I am stuck doing this) is frustrating.

The next few projects are probably, realistically, going to get the kid-gloves treatment.

Oh, wait. I don't have a drink. Maybe that's what's missing.

Some common sense,, but yea, students STILL should read the damn syllabus, which this author sort of says "eh." If anything, syllabi are the #CYA document, and students should be responsible for reading it. Can't bitch and moan if it is in clear writing (even if is a long document).

On side note, getting a pedant or two on some other social media, re: this story, saying "well, Boeing did not build the engine."

That may be the case, BUT they did put said engine on their aircraft. Overall, whether they built it or outsourced it, not exactly inspiring confidence (and TBH, sounds a bit like some #CYA).
