nahaufnahme, kleiner quadratischer ausschnitt geringer auflösung. auf einem im sonnenlicht schon fast übertrieben grünen blatt mit interessant kontrastreicher knittrig geäderter oberfläche sitzt eine türkisblaue libelle, eine azurjungfer, mit nach hinten geklappten aber noch nicht ganz zusammengelegten flügeln. die flügel sind so transparent, dass sie kaum zu sehen sind, es ist mehr ihr leichter schatten erkennbar. der dünne lange streichholzförmige hinterleib des insekts ist in mehrere segmente unterteilt, deren abgrenzung zum nächsten jeweils durch eine dünne schwarze binde optisch hervorgehoben wird. beim vorletzten ist das verhältnis schwarz zu türkisblau umgekehrt.

I finally succeeded at discovering some individuals of C. splendens. This female, alongside another female & one male, were observed at their relatively new spot closer to my village's church, whereas another male was seen at the northwestern edge of the pond - quite a distance between the new path next to the pond & the destroyed habitat between Z II & III. The amount of individuals has dropped sharply but they're set to recover.

Went to the wood with water today. I saw a Beautiful Demoiselle perched on a hazel leaf. Took a rubbish photo, then moved round to get a much better one, it flew off as I raised my phone 🙁 Well done if you can make this out. #Damselfly

Told you it was a rubbish photo! Photo show a hazel stem arcing from bottom right to top left with bright green leaves. Above one leaf are the brown looking wings of the demoiselle, whilst the shadow of its tail shows through the leaf

C. mercuriale is fairly active but has seen a decline in individuals near the destroyed spot between Z II & III.

Speaking of this spot, it appears that both demoiselle species were completely wiped out during the process. While C. mercuriale continues to grow near the main street bridge. C. splendens already disappeared before the remains of the Salix sp. that got partially uprooted during a storm a few years ago were cut and removed.

This week there's been a half dozen gorgeous flying insects visiting the boat as I pass by.

They have silken black wings. At first I thought: maybe some sort of moth? Then I decided: maybe a dragon fly or damselfly that has pointy black wings?

They never stop, they just fly over, so no pics. And anyway, while operating a narrowboat is not a great time to try for a photo.

leider nur fast scharfe quadratische nahaufnahme einer libelle vor einem hintergrungd aus grasblättern. ihre flügel zeigen nach rechts und sind aneinandergelegt, über dem dünnen, geraden, stäbchenförmigen hinterleib der leicht nach unten abgewinkelt ist. dieser hinterleib schillert blau metallisch, der brustteil auch, sogar noch heller und mit auch etwas grün. der kopf ist dominiert von den augen, große dunkelbraune facettenaugen. die flügel sind am ansatz und an den abgerundeten spitzen rauchig-transparent und im mitlleren bereich sehr dunkel blau, das erscheint hier schwarz. sie zeigen eine schöne feine äderung
