Ok, I broke down and bought another one. My first (first issue US 2$ bill 1862) was lost or stolen. This one was cheaper & in better shape than my first (I won this auction over the holiday weekend). Also got a Massachusetts 2$ bill from 1857! for a song ($52). The 1862 bills are a couple hundred each… but so beautiful.

The antique 2$ bill on top from Merchants Bank was only good there (signed 1857). The 2$ bill on the bottom (from 1862, ‘63, or ‘64) was the first ever such bill for the U.S., and good everywhere.

The Massachusetts 2$ bill on the bottom was signed 1857 and was only good at that (Merchant’s) bank in MA.
