As I look for new work. I am working on a project that long overdue. My mobile lab. Yes, besides having a having a home lab, I want a mobile lab I can take with me.
So, this will be last major project this year for my channel. Hopefully it won't be, but if it is...
#DeskPi was nice to sponsor me. They sent me a T-0 to review. I am working on a Mobile Lab with it. The next step for home labbers.
For those who would like to invest in a #DeskPi 10-inch #minirack popularised by @geerlingguy (for #SelfHosting or a #HomeLab, for example) BUT would absolutely like to avoid giving money to Jeff Bezos, #PiHut now proposes the reference ☝🤓

So I recently built an external network backup drive system for a client using a #RaspberryPi 4b and the lovely #DeskPi Pro V2 case from #GeeekPi.
I mounted a 4TB SSD inside, and have been testing it as a server for #borg #backup. (External USB drives will be used for removable storage).
The case is nicely built and metal, and includes the HSF and expansion board and an M.2 adapter board as well.
I wish it included their UPS hat, as that would make this a very self-contained system.

🔧 Calling all tech lovers! Jeff Geerling's new video, "Project MINI RACK - a Homelab Revolution!" is out now! He explores the potential of mini homelabs and thanks DeskPi for their awesome mini racks. And guess what? There's a giveaway for the DeskPi RackMate T0 Pi 5 cluster! 🎁 Watch it here: https://youtu.be/y1GCIwLm3is or Invidious: https://invidious.reallyaweso.me/watch?v=y1GCIwLm3is #Homelab

No long video this week. I've been traveling for work, and I need to clean my office and house. I love that office is clean again. I did a bit of re-org too.
As Compute Modules 4 are back in stock, I have one more #DeskPi #Super6C board I could fill in. #CM4 8GB RAM+256GB Storage would set me £100 per slot. Is it worth splashing out on more ram if I want to use it to host my page?

As #CM4 modules are back in stock with reasonable prices, check out this cluster board. #DeskPi #Super6C is a monster of a server with 6 boards/SSDs and 24 core performance to utilise... and I'm running it as... you guessed it an automation server! 😂

SO, #ArgonONE cases.
Ngl, kiiiiiinda overrated imo. Sure they look cool and seem uber durable, but you lose out on easy HAT mount points and if you don't have means to cool them, be it internally or externally, then the #Pi4 likes to malfunction/overheat in my experience. This is made worse when the thing needs a special driver which has a 50/50 shot of working on your system, or the alternative custom script which has yet to work for my purposes.
The #DeskPi Lite case on the other hand works fantastically!..at least until I tried experimenting on the heatsink it came with. Considering selling off the Argon ONE case and buying the NEO with its compatible fan HAT for the sake of making prototyping much easier, and so I can FINALLY use some HAT's on the 4 B.
Project Black-fire is not dead yet, only dormant.
The more I think about #Super6C, the more impressed I am with what else you could do with hardware like this. Check out the peculiar use cases of 24 processing cores!

What could you do with 24 cores and way more RAM than you probably need? I have a couple of ideas on how #DeskPi #Super6C can be used. Find out more about this pretty capable motherboard for clustering #ComputeModule4

This little box has 24 cores and more RAM than your average PC.

So, finally, I've collected 6 #raspberryPi compute modules to power my #DeskPi #Super6c Cluster.
"Modded" with some silent fans, it's now ready to move into my private datacenter (i.e.: the corner under the stairs in the basement).
