Drawpile development update for the last two weeks: docs.drawpile.net/devblog/2026

There's now a project statistics dialog that tells you how long you've worked on a picture and a way to make timelapse from within Drawpile. These features both fall out of the new project file format, along with autosaving.

You can also now assign canvas shortcuts to arbitrary actions. For example, pressing themiddle mouse button to switch to the eraser or undo.

Drawpile development update for the last two weeks: docs.drawpile.net/devblog/2026

Mostly more work on the new project file format, which integrates with the new autosave/autorecord mechanism.

And also several workarounds for Xiaomi devices on Android that are shared with Krita again.

Together with @hko I have worked on the "File Hierarchy for the Verification of OS Artifacts" (#VOA) in 2024 and 2025.

This #STF ( @sovtechfund ) funded #specification and #ReferenceImplementation (🦀) enables technology and distribution agnostic verification of OS artifacts.

In this #blog post we are looking into the #verification of #ArchLinux artifacts, using the `voa` #CLI and its #OpenPGP backend:

Together with @hko @j-g00da, @orhun and @Nukesor I have been working on the #ALPM and #VOA projects in 2024 and 2025.

This #SovereignTechFund ( @sovtechfund ) funded work has recently come to a close.

You can read all about what was achieved and plans for future work on the #ArchLinux #devblog: devblog.archlinux.page/2026/a-

Drawpile development update for the last two weeks:
docs.drawpile.net/devblog/2026

The main topic is autosaving (or really auto-recording), which is now available for testing in the alpha release. If you want to know more, there's also a talk from last year's Libre Graphics Meeting about where that's going: media.ccc.de/v/lgm25-upstream-

Otherwise, there's some Android fixes for devices that act weirdly there, which have been committed to Krita as well.

Schaut gerne vorbei :masto_blush:

Drawpile development update for the last two weeks: docs.drawpile.net/devblog/2025

Topics are a rework of the settings interface speeding up build times by a whole 10% and progress on autosaving. Or really, autorecording, with every brush stroke saved immediately and possibilites for timelapses, tracking time spent actively drawing and a few different kinds of time-travel.

Drawpile development update for the past few weeks: docs.drawpile.net/devblog/2025

Topics are mostly "infrastructure" stuff: the project file format, the settings implementation and some minor fixes and additions along the way.

@Catwoman69y2k I've concluded that much of the "join xyz platform for updates" mentality comes from the one-two punch of both web browsers ditching RSS and Atom and Google ditching Google Reader.

Say a free software project maintainer writes a development blog. The audience may or may not already have an RSS reader installed. This means the project maintainer might feel responsible for recommending a reader application for all 7 major platforms (Windows, macOS, desktop Linux, iOS, Android, Chrome extension, Firefox extension). Otherwise, people will land on en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparis and experience analysis paralysis.

I guess one disadvantage of protocols is that platforms have tended to do better at landing pages than protocols. Is there a page to which a blogger can refer visitors who have never used RSS before?

Drawpile development update for the last few weeks: docs.drawpile.net/devblog/2025

Topics are new brushes, new layouts, color picker improvements and lots of bugfixes for the upcoming release.

On that note, unless anything happens, the release of Drawpile 2.3.0 will start tomorrow.

On an #TTRPG awesome forum run by a friend on discord, I did a dev blog thread about the history of some of my games. It's a bit overly personal and maybe too honest. So, read it before I think better.
