The pen-ultimate part of the 'Wanderings in Wales' short story series by Thomas Richards is now available on my website. 'The Gipsies of Mowddwy' tells the story of cold-blooded murder without any dedemption or remorse.

Hot off the digital press: the fourth of six short stories by Thomas Richards.

'Anna of Llynn' tells the sad tale of two young lovers' happiness spoilt by a third jealous heart.

This story comes with a content warning about descriptions and portrayals of mental illness.

I've started editing my way through a small collection of short stories formerly published in the New European Magazine between 1822 and 1823. Here's the first of eventually six stories: 'The Funeral' by Thomas Richards.

Poet #WHAuden sent this printed volume of his speech "Worte & Noten" ("Words & Notes"), delivered at #SalzburgFestival 1968, to a friend.

On the page, he crossed out the bigger part of his biography & wrote "Quatsch" ("nonsense") next to it.

The image shows an open book with two pages visible. The left page contains a block of German text, while the right page features a biographical section about Wystan Hugh Auden, written in German. The text on the left page discusses the art of opera and its role in modern literature, mentioning the works of C. S. Lewis. The right page provides a brief biography of Auden, including his birthdate, education, and notable works. The text is printed on cream-colored paper with red lines along the edges, typical of a book's binding. The page numbers are visible at the bottom, with "22" on the left and "23" on the right. There is a handwritten note on the right page, reading "Quatsch."

Now editing the correspondence between British-American poet #WHAuden and Austrian-British writer #HildeSpiel, 'grande dame' of Austrian literature (wikidata.org/entity/Q93872):

✉️ 12 letters by Auden 1966-72
✉️ 5 letters (carbon copy) by Spiel 1970-72
✉️ 1 letter (carbon copy) by Spiel 1972 to Austrian chancellor #BrunoKreisky *

We are located at Bäckerstraße (Baker Street), though number 13, and not 221B.
Still, some pretty intense investigative work takes place here ... 🔍

The image depicts a narrow, sunlit alleyway framed by white buildings with arched entrances. The pathway is paved with cobblestones and bordered by a central strip of larger stones. On the left, a building features a small window with a decorative grille and a handrail leading to a set of stairs. The right side of the alley is lined with windows, some adorned with metal bars, and a small green plant is visible near the center. The archway above the alley is painted in a warm beige tone, contrasting with the white walls. The sky is clear and blue, indicating a sunny day. The perspective is from the entrance of the alley, looking down its length towards a building with a red-tiled roof in the background.

The image is a graph titled "Learning Curve". The Y-axis is labeled "CER" and ranges from 0% to 100%. The X-axis is labeled "Epochs" and ranges from 0 to 260. There are two lines on the graph: a blue line labeled "CER Train" and a red line labeled "CER Validation". Both lines start near 100% and decrease rapidly before leveling off. The blue line levels off at a lower value than the red line. A solid green vertical line intersects the right side of the graph. Below the graph are the values "CER on Train Set: 0.83%" and "CER on Validation Set: 5.04%".

Welcome

Graviz presentation

Yasir Yılmaz | PI, GraViz
Nilab Saeedi | GraViz editor (Ottoman Turkish and Persian)
Michael Vogelsberger | GraViz editor (German, Latin, and Italian)

GraViz: The Ottoman Grand Vizierate (1560s–1760s) is a digital editing project funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF, P-36216) that researches the correspondence between the Viennese court and six prominent early modern Ottoman grand viziers. We transcribe and translate into English the letters, including texts in Ottoman Turkish, German, Latin, and Italian. All GraViz editions are published on qhod.net, the umbrella project of the IHB dedicated to researching the history of early modern and modern Habsburg-Ottoman diplomacy.

In the presentation, the GraViz team will introduce the finished first phase of the project that involves the correspondence between Vienna and Constantinople during the time of Grand Vizier Sokollu Mehmed Pasha (in office, 1565–1579).

GraViz is led by Yasir Yılmaz, with an editing team comprising Nilab Saeedi and Micheal Vogelsberger. GraViz is conceived as the first phase of a planned larger project that will analyze the office of the chief minister across Eurasia.
