some close-up shots of fun details!
I was so worried about the thread not being enough to make any impact, so I'm really pleased with all these delicate lines
I REALLY want to keep dyeing things, y'all, but I don't have anything to dye rn lol
AHHH!!! LOOK AT THEM!!!
tomorrow when it's light out I'll take some close up detail pictures to share, but I'm VERY pleased with how these came out
the pillowcases are very fun, bc I prepped them first, when I had energy and my fingers/back didn't hurt đ€Ł
the top sheet may be my least successful attempt ... I decided to fold it a bunch of times before tying bits of it (to save time and my fingers), and I must have tied it too tightly for any dye to penetrate, but I was so worried it was going to be solid purple đ€Ł
the fitted sheet might be my most successful attempt, despite not putting in nearly as much dye as the pillows. I decided to go super minimalist bc I prepped the fitted sheet last and I was running out of time, but what I love about it is the gentle mottling, due to the dye not distributing evenly in the majority of the fabric. it's not something I did on purpose, the pot just wasn't big enough to really stir the sheet
taking advantage of waking up BEFORE EIGHT đ by doing a ton of laundry while working on a #dye project I've been meaning to get to for a couple weeks now
I've been needing new sheets forever; Midna loves digging in the sheets with her little claws and now there's a BUNCH of tears and holes in the fabric. I've thought about mending them, but they're knit (T-shirt fabric) instead of woven, so I may just tear the sheets up for yarn or use them for another project, idk
BUT I bought two sets of pale purple (woven) sheets with the intention of dumping them into a #dyebath to make them dark purple. however, since they arrived, I've been reading a lot about #shibori, so I'm attempting some shibori-like dye resists
Midna is very interested in the damp bedding on the suddenly cleared off kitchen island, so bonus kitty photo!

Salma Hayek does THIS instead of dyeing her gray hair
Salma Hayek has shared some exciting beauty hacks. In a video for Vogue, Shalma gets ready and after completing her makeup on face, the actress revealed that she does makeup on her hair as well. She took some mascara and started applying it to her gray hair, admitting... #Salma #Hayek #dyeing #gray #hair
I am scheming some dye schemes over here.
I've had this thrifted cotton homespun for a couple years, and I keep not making a shirt out of it because I already have some shirts with similar stripes.
There are over 3 meters of it so I would like to make something bigger, but I know my life and if I'm going to sit on a garment it needs to be a dark colour. I was an inveterate sitter-on-the-ground even before I had a kid and also developed an energy impairment.

*three hours later*
i have a bowl of washed and picked wool that is now soaking in my sink with a tiny splash of vinegar to be separated out and dyed in the morning!
i also found my dyes and dug out my dyepot and spoon. Pro Tip: don't mix kitchen pots with dyepots if you use professional non-foodsafe dyes. also wear gloves and a respirator if you are working with the powdered stuff. that stuff gets *everywhere* omg.
i'll post pics as soon as i figure out the colors i want. i'm thinking... seafoam, copper, coral, lavender and maybe a dark gold? maybe a pale chestnut? i use CMYK ratios to mix my dyes and it's been a while. so it'll be anyone's guess what i end up with. đ

I can just about replicate my previous yarn/fiber colorways. Good think there really isn't a perfect "dye lot" when it comes to dyeing spinning fiber, like when you have a yarn.
I kinda look at what colors I have and say... what colorway are we dyeing today?
... I need to work on dyeing some fiber but I have a lot to do. Strangely enough I don't like dyeing m my handspun yarn in wacky colors. đ€
Good morning/afternoon.
Watching Rebecca from Chemknits (on YouTube.)
It's a random episode. She's dyeing sock blank donuts. (She's one of my goto yarn-tube channels to watch.)
She has a background as a science teacher so all her videos are yarn dyeing experiments.
When I dye yarn and fiber... I legit go with Vibes. đ„Ž I have an idea of where I wanna go, but I dye and overdye until I get results. I've tried the 'plan ahead' stuff and it doesn't go well. đ
