A little uncomplicated #tech question:

USB flash drive connected to a hub that is connected to a laptop. Flash drive gets quite hot while plugged in whether or not actively used. Which one is the problem? I'm guessing it's the hub. Yes? Is it safe to keep using the hub (or the flash drive)?

The hub is decent, not well known.
The flash drive is a little Sandisk dual USB stick.
The computer is a MacBook M1, if it matters.

Are #TapToPay #wearables usable at any* terminal where you can tap-to-pay with a card? Should be, right?

When I'm out riding 🚲 I normally don't carry my credit card. If wearables are a sure thing and like using a card then I think I might just get one. Many places I frequent have tap-to-pay. But I've only seen it done with cards. I haven't seen/noticed anyone* here 🇵🇭 paying with wearables. Maybe #banks here don't allow it yet? 🤔

We have this 27-year old Corolla. It runs fine. The paint is missing some layers in some parts. And the whatchamacallit rubber strips on the window are coming off.

I think rust might kill the car way before it's engine is ready to keel over. 😶 I'm hoping the car will last a few more years. I don't care much for appearances. One major advantage of an old car is that [bad] people won't take interest in it. To me that's priceless. 👌

Is it worth having the exterior fixed?

Not a big deal for a cheap phone, but then... If in the About view it shows 14, this isn't a solid OS. It's been tampered? The icons were wrong too.

On Friday I did something I normally wouldn't do. I knee-jerk clicked a link in an email. #OnlyHuman 😖

It took me to what looked like a website's plain text error page.

I panicked. Asked Copilot what to do since it's sitting there in my browser, then turned off my 💻's #wifi.

I Slacked my bosses 📱. 1 replied saying probably nothing bad happened and if I wanted to be sure I could reset my MacBook to start all fresh.

Advice? Suggestions?

If I squeeze just lightly it's fine, no noise. The rear brake doesn't make any noise at all.

I messaged the shop and they think it's because the pads are new and say that it'll eventually go away.

Is there a limit to how many extension displays* a #computer can have?

Right now I got a #MacBook M1 connected to an external monitor via HDMI (via a hub). 💻🖥️

I'd like to add another. 🖥️

The hub's HDMI port is already taken by the current monitor. 🖥️ It still has a VGA, USB-C and USB ports. Saw some modestly-sized external monitor online 🏪 that will supposedly connect via USB.

Before I buy, any reason or chance that hub USB ports would not work with a 3rd display?

I have the TX50 and I don't like it. 😐

Pushing the button on the right 7x to go higher is fine but pushing the stiff lever back to go to a lower number is no fun. Not easy with my hand issues. ☹️ The left 3x is lever-controlled too and I hardly mess with it for the same reason, so I just keep to the middle.

Are these shifters applicable to any #MTB? Is there anything about #bikes that make some unsuitable for certain types?

Just noticed today that my #MTB #bike's fork is getting rusty. It's only a year old. ☹️

I guess that's what I get for not giving my bike a wipedown after each ride... even after a ride in the rain.

So how do you guys decide when it's time to replace your fork?

I think it's not too big a deal. I'll take it to the bike shop for some cleaning and see what they'll say about the rusty bits. 🤔
