Finished another cross-stitch thing. I liked that this kit came with a second, sharp, needle for the backstitches, of which many went between the holes on the grid.

I didn't like the isolated confetti stitches at the bottom, but I'm learning to tuck those ends into the weave of the canvas itself.

I'm starting my next embroidery project: a linen blouse in a folk cut with big bell sleeves perfect for embroidery.

I googled around for #Belarusian cross stitch patterns and found this incredible resource: a book published in 1877(!) of Belarusian and Ukrainian patterns. I really love the squirrels, and there are some excellent cats in there.

Thought I'd share here, in case anyone else is interested.

A beautiful embroidered carp art. 🥰

Embroidery is magical to me because I can't imagine having the patience or skill to make something so tiny, delicate, and fidgety 🤯.

I don’t know much about fine art. Been to a bunch of museums and seen epic, historic paintings…but fine art is still a bit above my pay grade. I do, however, love textiles - so I collect carpets, wall hangings, blankets and the like. I am particularly fond of Uzbek Suzani textiles, and I’ve been able to acquire a number of pieces at auction (in most cases for ridiculously cheap prices). Here are a few of my favorites. Oh my, how I love my 3d pens. I bought one 3 years ago to use in embroidery. Tried it once and forgot about it. All of a sudden it has all clicked.
I love all of the different types of filament I can use. I really like TPU due to it's flexibility. Clear filament looks so much like glass, it's wonderful.

Day 23. Today and yesterday I spent the length of one Star Trek episode working on this (Starfleet Academy yesterday and Deep Space Nine today.) There hasn’t been swearing yet but I have gotten a little frustrated making knots. Practice, practice, practice.
