#Rebhühner. Ich kenne noch ein einziges Gebiet, in dem ich zuverlässig auf Rebhühner treffe. Das #Foto hat mich eine halbe Stunde Ruhigsitzen bei Temperaturen um 0° C gekostet. Zu sehen ist der Moment, als mich die Geräusche meiner Kamera verraten haben. Die Vögel zogen sich danach langsam zurück.

Das Foto zeigt vier Rebhühner, die sich aus einem Gebüsch auf eine kurzrasige Wiese bewegen. Das erste Rebhuhn, etwas rechts der Mitte, hält seinen ovalen Körper horizontal, sein Kopf ist rechts auf Schulterhöhe. Das zweite Rebhuhn. im Zentrum des Bildes, sichert mit erhobenem Kopf. Links neben ihm suchen zwei weitere Rebhühner mit dem Kopf im Gras nach Futter. Der linke Bildrand wird von einem Gewirr aus blattlosen Ästen eingenommen.

A little while ago I looked outside and lo and behold, a Grey Partridge in my little city garden! For awhile it was digging and scratching and picking, apparently going after the native grasses I planted (and didn't mow in the fall) under the snow. Good wildlife gardening practices brings in the creatures! It is still there, having settled down for a siesta in the snow.

A grey bird with brown speckles, all puffed up, is sitting in the blinding white snow, against a small snowbank in which it had excavated a small hollow. It has orange cheeks and neck. The eyes are three quarters closed.

Went out for a drive yesterday and came across this covey of #HungarianPartridge (otherwise known as #GreyPartridge). An introduced species to this area, they’ve managed to establish themselves despite the often foul weather. They seem to prefer the short grain stubble fields that are common around here most of the year. #birds birdwatching #birdphotography #partridge #northdakota
