Each beer has it's own distinct #hop and trub leavings at the bottom of our kettle. A 'fun' #FlashCard game might be to "Name the beer by it's leavings." An unflattering concept, but visually intriguing. I am so very happy that I have not needed to climb into the kettle for a long, long time while it is still hot (it's been 12 years or more).

A curious view. Looking down through the hatchway in our brew kettle you can see a step and my reflection in the small circle down below. You can also see a mound of spent hops in the middle of the floor of the kettle and some interesting flow-forms as the trub and hops are swirled and the hot wort drains away at the 5 o'clock position. The bottom of the kettle is slightly angled and slanted to aid in draining it all away.

You can also see the angled recirculation inlet at the 4:30 position and at the 9 o'clock region is a longer thermowell for measuring the temperature of the kettle contents, and there is a small sensor that closes a circuit to allow the burner to light when the kettle is full enough to do so safely.

His neck snaps, "Great start, sweetie!" he lies, clutching the door handle until his knuckles turn ghost-white. The gearbox screams in agony. After the tenth stall he decides to #hop out of the passenger seat. "You've got this," he yells, backing away toward the sidewalk. She yells back "I got this dad!" (She didn't lol)
