Unlike this holly blue, I'm facing yet-another odyssey but this time it affects both of my tele zoom lenses. My second-hand EF 70-200mm f/4 USM also started to fail & I'm trading it for another used one in good condition, choosing to not replace my dead EF-S 55-250mm for the time being. I'll be stuck with my small kit lens for at least another week, though it continues to deliver pretty good results.

A possible holly blue butterfly on a bramble plant. The butterfly has a pale blue body with black speckles, white legs and black and white antennae (only one of the two is visible in this picture. On the bottom left hand side of the shot is a fruiting but as yet unripe blackberry (green, with the very distinctive sections of that fruit_, and a few white petals are also visible.

Today I spotted a Holly Blue (Celastrina argiolus) in the garden, resting on wild marjoram (Origanum vulgare)!
It’s one of the first blue butterflies to appear in spring and summer, often seen fluttering around ivy, holly, or buckthorn.
I always love how their shimmering blue wings catch the sunlight.

Vanmiddag een boomblauwtje (Celastrina argiolus) in de tuin gezien, rustend op wilde marjolein (Origanum vulgare)!
Het is een van de eerste blauwtjes die in lente en zomer tevoorschijn komen, vaak te vinden bij klimop, hulst of wegedoorn.
Die flitsende blauwe vleugels in het zonlicht zijn telkens weer een prachtig gezicht.

Pari viikkoa sitten alkoi päiväperhosia näkyillä ja näin kuun lopussa moni on jo löytänyt kumppanin. Mustikka ja paatsamat ovat lajille tärkeitä, paitsi ravintona (samalla pölyttäen kukat!) myös toukan ravintokasvina.

Of course, the first C. argiolus (and, by extension, my very first blue of this season) to show up near my village needed to happen at the same time a hair landed on my camera's sensor out of nowhere AND a family with two dogs decided to walk past me. This shot doesn't show the amount of stress I experienced.
