Hier noch 2 nützliche Tipps.
via @Markus84 :

You can also transfer over other data to the new account, like who you follow, mute, or block. (But not your posts.) It's an export / import process.

@paulomalley has a series of helpful videos on how to use various Mastodon features, like this one (scroll up and down the thread for others):

Hope this is helpful! 😎 🖖

Wem folgen die Menschen, denen ich folge? Das ist für mich einer der besten Wege, um neue interessante Accounts zu finden. Mit diesem Tool geht das jetzt auch bei Mastodon ganz gut: followgraph.vercel.app/#

@humbird0

Ok, I'm trying out the "featured hashtags", and I'm a little lost. 🤔

I think I turned it on in my settings, but I don't see where it shows up on my profile.

Any advice? What am I missing?

@paulomalley, do you have a video for this, so I know what to look for?

If you need to change an "unlisted" post to "public" you could "Delete and Redraft" but this will throw out any replies attached to it.

@5ciFiGirl
In my opinion, it's probably best to only add your HashTags to the first post of a thread, unless one of your replies is also useful as a stand-alone post.

Just make sure your reply with the hashtags is set to "public." But if you go back to edit an "unlisted" reply, it won't let you change it to public.

(For example, this reply might be helpful by itself if it shows up in a search, without needing to read the thread it's from)

@5ciFiGirl
If you have accounts on other mastodon servers, then searching for your custom hashtag in a global search doesn't reliably find it on your other accounts (at least not right away). It tends to favor local searches.

But adding "Featured HashTags" to your profile page is very reliable for finding your tagged posts. I've been using them a lot on one of my other accounts.

@5ciFiGirl
If you want to reliably search your own posts by HashTag, edit your profile, click "Featured hashtags" on the left, and add your custom hashtag, then it will appear in a list on the bottom right of your profile page.

Clicking these only shows every post of yours that uses that HashTag

They're just URL's like this:
mstdn.party/@humbird0/tagged/M
So you can do this search manually without adding a featured HashTag to your page. Just change the URL

@5ciFiGirl
To avoid name-collisions, you'd want to use a longer HashTag and maybe also underscores since they're usually not used in normal HashTags. Such as:

#by_yourUserName

.

@5ciFiGirl
One thing that can partially help:

On the profile page there are 3 tabs.
- Posts
- Posts and Replies
- and Media
"Media" shows your posts without any boosts, but only if they have a picture attached.

.

Another thing that works well, but requires planning:

On one of my other mastodon accounts I took a preemptive approach and put a specific hashtag in all of my own posts, so I can find them using that.

For example:
#by_yourUserName

#Mastodon does NOT keep #Metadata when you upload JPEGs. Not surprising. Most sites strip out this information when they re-compress pics. In theory it's a good way to sign your work. But you're better off putting your signature directly in the image itself.

iptc.org/standards/photo-metad

Windows lets you edit the metadata of JPG images in the file's properties (Details tab) You can select multiple image s to edit all of their metadata at once.

Question as a #mastodon newbie. In the News feed, I see that X number of people are talking about an article. I want to see what they are saying & join the conversation. How do I see what those people are saying??

First click on a tag, then click on the icon on the top right to subscribe to that tag.

You can also try out other tags by changing the URL to see if anything shows up.
