Every afternoon, the schools throw away tons of unopened, untouched, nutritious snack items that the kids didn’t want. It is illegal to give that food to hungry people outside the school, but they give it away to parents and staff who want it. My partner waits until everyone has taken what they want, then bundles it up, and takes it and distributes it to homeless people, who are numerous here. This is part of a huge problem we have in the US. We throw away tons of food, while thousands of people go hungry. Can’t we make sensible laws that can fix this distribution problem? This was the same problem that existed in the 1930s. Here we are 95 years later and it still exists. C’mon folks. Let’s fix this.
