For those who didn’t know, I am a 29-year old gamer and college student. I was diagnosed with autism since early age.

I am very dependent on my pension and my aunt on my budget, however most of it went for food. So I have set this fundraising to help me cover college-related fees, free tuition couldn’t cover beyond intended purpose.

They are going to make the news again tonight, the stories about the commmunity centers organizing Christmas feasts. And rightly so.
But, the story of the elderly woman, who lost her son as a child and had to flee an abusive husband. Who takes to drinking when it gets too much. Who fell down the stairs and was taken to hospital today. She had nowhere safe to go, since the community center in her neighborhood lost its funding and had to close. The whispers in the distance bring an uneasiness that often is nothing more than the perpetual fear of the bottom falling out, when you exist at the bottom where do you go when that too falls apart, for far to many ignore the plight of poverty, for it is not a choice of person but circumstances that compound beyond relief, for when you trip and fall and find yourself disabled, your self value degrades before your eyes, then the ability to eat, clothe, bathe, and keep a roof over your head becomes a monumental task, no amount of bootstrapping yourself can life you out of the pit of despair, for if I eat this meal now, I can not eat tomorrow, if I bathe today, I cant bathe tomorrow, if I pay my rent today, I may not be able to eat and bathe tomorrow, sleep becomes a torturous cycle of nightmares and insomnia, your body declines each day without the basic nutrition to maintain, the stress rewires your brain it destroys your heart, the physical pain becomes the only constant in your existence, your pleas for help for dignity become a chant the world tunes out, for if today you get to eat, your not relived but fear when the next meal will be, to have the means to not only survive but to thrive are but a distant dream, to lift one out of the mire is to show compassion while offering dignity and a hope of what will be, I am still $3,610 short of fulling my goal to end the year, so that I can wrap up some things I really need to take care of, It would be wonderful if the global community of humans could help me raise this last little bit to finish this year with, as always your compassion and support are truly a lifeline for someone like me;

I don't understand how people aren't rioting and burning the place down more given how bad things are these days. I'm in a pretty good line of work and struggling financially, which says to me people who aren't even at this level are drowning. At what point will society just start to collapse because too many kids live in tents with their working parents?

Heads up, fellow poor Utah peeps!

I wasn't aware until just the other day but UTA has expanded their "reduced fare" program with the FarePay cards. If your annual income is approximately $30k or less, you can get the reduced fare of $1 and pay a maximum of $2/day for regular bus service and a weekly cap of $8.

While I'd prefer that we didn't charge for public transit at all in this country, $1 per trip is definitely a game-changer. I was just approved and my card should be arriving soon.

I've had multitudes of criticism for UTA over the years but I've got to admit this is a very positive step in the right direction for once.

I'm certainly more willing to overlook the time, hassle and still-lacking service coverage to ride the bus if the price makes it worth it.

I am a little startled to think that I make more than double the minimum wage and I still fall just low enough on the "poverty line" to qualify for reduced transit fare.
