Gods, I hate it when people say "only military people get #PTSD" Hmm...are there special #military PTSD hospitals I don't know about? Because all 3 of my hospitalizations there were veterans in the same stabilization units I was in. It's not a military disease....it's a people having a shitty hand at life disease. All people.

You know. I've never actually seen a picture of Stephen Miller. Now, I have #PTSD, and I have been hospitalized 3 times, and for some reason they throw druggies who have been on a 6 day bender and been detoxed into the affective units. I don't know why, but they do. You'll have sad depressed, and anxious people, mixed in with chronic drug users. So I know what someone who is a tweaker looks like. They look like exhausted raccoons with the sunken-in dark eyes. That man tweaks....

I keep seeing Americans who want to do something about the state of our #politics, but feel like no action they can take will do enough to fix things, so it’s not worth trying.

It’s easy to feel nihilistic. So I’d like to propose an alternative - a 10% improvement approach to political change, of sorts.

It comes from my #PTSD treatment: the idea that no one approach, skill, or intervention can make the #trauma just go away instantaneously. So instead, us humans are left with 10% solutions - things that help a little bit, for some amount of time.

The key to healing is to develop an ongoing set of multiple different solutions that you rotate through based on what feels feasible on any given day / moment. Each one helps a bit. 10%, 5%, 1%. But eventually, you get to making big changes that felt impossible at the start.

The same works for political change and activism. Sure, going to any one protest, or calling your representative, or boycotting a brand, or changing one person’s mind, or donating to one fundraiser won’t fix the entire broken political regime. But it will help A LITTLE.

And if a lot of us continue to find ways to do things that help a little, it will end up doing a lot more.

A movement starts with a thousand little steps that don’t look like much on their own.

Take that little step. Then another.

I had a few chores to tend to this frigid morning, diagnose a faulting gate opener finding the batteries are no longer sufficient to provide the 12v needed to run the arms that open the gate, then I had some very light welding to tend to, already started the day hungry tired and in pain, now all of that just a bit more, sure would be nice to have the ability to order some of the food I need, my cart is full but Im lacking the $395 to order it, your compassion and support would really be a big help to this disabled man existing in poverty today;
