I’m kinda fascinated by Ghost (the blogging platform) and its ability to sync with Mastodon. Has anyone tried it for this purpose? Do you like how it works?

I really like my current set up, not wishing to change right now. I’m just gathering data.

The 2025 solstice-to-solstice experiment is complete and summarized! I could have made this prettier and interactive and ..., but I need to be done and feel like I got the overview I wanted, which was kinda the point of the summary. (there is some css that might get tweaked someday to fix legibility)

Some take aways (more on the site):

- granular, consistent attention shapes my existence and mindset

- my crows: Soggy, Figgy Pudding, Pantalones, Patch, Say, Lefty, Scrappy, and those unnamed — how did I miss you for 4 whole days?

- 212 species, mostly birding within 60 miles + a few excursions — abundance is here

- local first: a numbers file editable anywhere + python

-tallies: wonderful for noting the pluses

I have published a new article on Yakihonne that dives deeper into themes around technology, control, and digital autonomy. It is a reflective piece aimed at stepping back from headlines and thinking more carefully about where we are heading.

Shortest day of the year.
The light barely rises, the dark lingers longer than invited.

But lighthouses were never built for easy days.
They exist for the long nights, the rough seas, the moments when direction matters most.

The light is on.
It always is.

Yesterday's #Indieweb Club #Bangalore meetup had the largest attendance ever! 25 people showed up this time and we worked together on our websites, making new ones and improving old ones, and helping each-other out. We wrote and published 17 blog posts! It was really fun. The community has over 120 members now. Join us at blr.indiewebclub.org.

Cool, the Lagrange client for the Gemini Protocol is also available on Apple iOS via a TestFlight beta version.

Amazing, now I can read the Smallweb also on my phone 😁

Lagrange: gmi.skyjake.fi/lagrange/

The Geminispace is amazing. Like the old web, no JavaScript, no tracking, just raw content.

My own capsule is at gemini://gemini.hofstede.it

Short day, long shadows.
Dogs walked, servers humming, kettle on.

Building things the slow way:
owning the stack, minding the details, choosing sustainability over scale for scale’s sake.

The lighthouse keeps running —
quiet, independent, intentional.

It's been a good few weeks since the last Hyperlink Roundup and though I read many blogs, it was still a busy time wrapping up work before the holidays.

We finally have the first early beta builds of #11tyCMS ready! They’ll be released in a few days. I need to write a README, some warnings and prepare a launch blog post.

Note we don’t have any official uploads to Flathub yet. I’m currently figuring out how Flatpak packaging for Electron works.

Stay tuned! #11ty #indieweb

I love the indie/small web. I find personal websites intriguing, and love to browse around. I found many via /now, /interests, /ideas, and more. So it was time to do my part and start a /top4 movement.

I really like personal homepages and have quite a list of them bookmarked. I'll post one every week unless I fall behind this schedule. 😉 So here's Cool Personal Homepages #CPHP Vol. 55: "Spike.nagatha.fr" spike.nagatha.fr/

Ever heard of Gemini? It's a lightweight internet protocol between Gopher and the Web - no JavaScript, no cookies, no tracking, just text and links over TLS.

Think of it as the web before it got complicated. Pages are written in "gemtext", a minimal markup format. The entire protocol spec fits on a few pages.

To explore Geminispace you need a client:

- Lagrange (GUI, cross-platform): gmi.skyjake.fi/lagrange/
- Amfora (terminal): github.com/makew0rld/amfora

Start exploring at gemini://warmedal.se/~antenna/ - an aggregator of active capsules (what we call Gemini sites).

I write about FreeBSD and self-hosting at gemini://gemini.hofstede.it/

This next post isn’t about gaming. It is my personal story of what it feels like to realize that you have to leave your homeland. It was a hard to write, but every share helps.

The lighthouse is in its slippers.
The servers are wearing cardigans.
The kettle has been promoted to senior management.

The sea is politely murmuring,
the dogs are auditing the biscuit supply,
and the light goes round and round
like it’s got nowhere else to be (because it doesn’t).

Nothing urgent. Nothing loud.
Just a small, stubborn glow
doing its best against the weekend.

We’ll keep the light on 💡
