Georgian England saw London quickly growing into one of the largest cities in Europe. As the city grew, coffee houses equally gained importance in society. For a mere penny, customers could purchase a cup of coffee and gain admission to these new spaces where they could learn the news of the day and perhaps meet other local residents and discuss mutual concerns. At the same time, some of these establishments were the birthplace of a new community. They became a place where people could explore gender and sexuality among like-minded people and this place became known as a Molly House by Jo Kelly and Cole Wehrle from @wehrlegig with art by Rachel Ford.

Finally located specific connector for charging my chair batteries* so possibility exists I might go to London Pride on Saturday.
My first (then only "Lesbian & Gay" #Pride) was 40 years ago, and I was one of the organisers and first 'out' bisexual on the committee. We've come a long way since but those advances have been slipping back with increased homophobia and transphobia promoted by the media.
Just because there is music, and people in bright colours, doesn't mean we aren't still fighting for our rights, for fair and equal treatment, to live in peace without fear of violence. Pride is both a celebration of how far we've come in 50 years and a reminder to everyone else just how much there is left to do.
