People keep making things, and it never really gets old. Natural leather, cut on our laser (it really stinks when it’s cutting!), then dyed, glued and finally stitched together into straps.

Exploring the secrets of the Roman Empire’s leather economy
A pioneering research project is expected to challenge current understanding of the leather economy of the Roman Empire, which has received little attention despite being central to ancient civilization, from military logistics to trade and daily life...

The pockets of my shorts keep getting holes in them from my car keys rubbing through the thin pocket material.
I’m sick of repairing said pockets, so I made a little leather key fob pouch for my belt today.
I've begun getting into leather work, my first project was a leather cover for my notebook. That turned out pretty good. My latest was a leather pouch, so I could learn stitching, not really straight stitches but not too bad.

This here is my most beloved creation, my final course project, an original design inspired by the valkyries myth and crafted completely by hand with only manual tools.
500h patterning, cutting, tooling, moulding, stitching, burnishing, dying, painting, hardenind, aging... Lots of time invested learning from basically zero, but not bad for a first armour!
It took me 4 years but I reached a point of being really proud of this

Bag done!
This thing took way longer than I expected (probably a good 15-20 hours) but dang it's cool.

Three similar but very different pieces. One for a challenge, one for creativity and one for plain and pure fun

And these are the ones from the previous three years, 2020, 2019 and 2018 respectively. The oldest one shows some of my first leather pieces since I started my formation only one year prior. Until then, my crafting field was foam weapon replicas for LARP, swordcombat sparring and cosplay, something I start leaving behind me the more I was fall in love with leather

A regressive #ArtvsArtist of my work, to summarize some of my fave pieces and offer a perspective of my range. These are 2024 to 2021, four intense years where I focused on learning some side skills and kind of found my foot. Sadly, also tumultuous years that made me step aside a bit from crafting (against my will) and prioritize other things right now, still in hopes of coming back in some years

Starting all over again here in mastodon, let me re-introduce myself:
Spanish leathercrafter, armour-maker, fantasy-lover, appearance-deceiver, wing-witch, always-learning and sapphic-fangirl.
I love a good challenge (as long as my regular job and my neurodivergent ass let me).
All 100% handmade (my only mechanic tools are a dremmel and a sewing machine I still didn't learn how to use)
