Looking for advice.
I'm still masking, and deeply want to start working with local mutual aid groups with an eye towards meeting like-minded people. My "new person" social is damn rusty. And I've got childhood trauma from being the bullied weird kid to push past.. which is doable, but is gonna be there. I also haven't tried to build new F2F relationships with anyone who wasn't already on the same page about disease prevention.
Any suggestions?
Today is an adventure at the #Zoo. I’m thankful it’s not crazy out, but there are more people than I expected. We’re on of few people #MaskingUp here. Ah well.

At this point, I know maybe 6 or 7 people (8 if you include me) irl, that haven't been infected with #Covid19.
Every time I tell people I've never gotten #Covid , they seem shocked.
All the people I know who are #Novid do at least 2 of the following.
- Not spending time indoors unmasked around others that aren't in their "bubble." If they do see people outside their bubble, they try to do stuff outside. If it has to be indoors, everyone must #MaskUp when inside
- Don't spend a lot of time in public places indoors - especially when there are crowds.
- Having common shared agreements about #CovidPrecautions with the people they do see unmasked (usually about 3 people total - sometimes less - and it's pretty much always the people they live with).
- #Masking in public using high-quality and well fitted masks (N95/KF94/KN95) - everyone I know who has remained Covid free is doing this.
I've watched basically every single person I know catch Covid, some of them multiple times, and it gets harder for me to comprehend how myself and others are screaming from the rooftops about #LayersOfProtection , yet they're still not #MaskingUp.
It's honestly just exhausting at this point because not only can the social isolation get you down sometimes, but I'm also just tired of seeing my friends get sick.

The Mass abandonment that United States is doing is eugenics, folks. This is what eugenics looks like. This is evil.
Stop normalizing mass death and disablement.
We can fight this. And we can win.
I may be sick all the time thanks to #LongCovid -- which I got because people refused to mask! -- but I still do my best to fight this. For those who are abled bodied and relatively healthy? Do your part! Stop rolling over and allowing those in power to throw away millions of people to death and deliberate abandonment.
We can't ever build a better world if we can't even do the bare minimum of caring for each other collectively by #MaskingUp and building air filtration devices like #CRBoxes to clean up our air.
Push for these basic measures in all places you frequent.

@augieray @TVaa When the CDC told us we could stop wearing masks in public, back in May of 2021, just before Delta hit, they assured us that they would call for #MaskingUp again if there was a surge. 2 or more surges later, they’ve done no such thing. They lied. 🤬
The next time someone asks if you don't feel less free because of #maskingUp, ask them if they feel less free wearing sunglasses when the sun is bright.
There's very little difference, except the sun in your eyes wont actually kill you.

I’ll spend the next 9 hours in an aluminum metal tube powered by explosives, about 10 km up in the air. I sure as heck will be #maskingUp as I don’t want to harm my elderly in-laws. Wish me luck. Still looking forward to landing in #Germany.

Last flight home is out of #LondonHeathrow. Didn’t get outside the airport but did enjoy an Elderflower tonic which was delightful.
I’m looking around the gate area and I’d say there are 150 ppl in my vicinity — only 1 wearing a mask. Same at the conference, v low #MaskingUp among 1000s there. Yet there was someone hack-coughing on virtually every bus, train, flight, & conference hall I visited.

This is endemic #COVID19 in Maryland: consistent community transmission and stable hospitalizations. We have over 400 Marylanders in the hospital consistently since May. Keeping up with #CovidVaccine boosters and #MaskingUp in indoor settings will help.
