The Halls of Arden Vul (OSRIC) Session 6: we cleared out most of the floor beneath the collapsed barracks, finding mostly piles of trash but the occasional corpse with treasure. We befriended a tuxedo-wearing zombie.

Satisfied with the day’s work, we decided to check out one final room before leaving. Giant spiders attacked, and two of us were poisoned immediately. We had one antivenom potion. My guy died.

Friday and Saturday, I watched Ginny Di and Pointy Hat talk about Daggerheart and watched the Critial Role a couple months ago as they did a play test.

Overall the system looks pretty well done and extendable, but I worry about it's potential longevity. It doesn't appear to have the right mix of crunchy and smooth for a long lifespan.

Having said that, considering that Critical Role is behind and pushing it, I think it will overtake things like #osric and #shadowdark

I just backed OSRIC 3 on Backerkit. $10 for a more easily referenceable version of 1e AD&D? It's a no brainer!

The Halls of Arden Vul (OSRIC) session 5 - After battling through a garbage heap of giant centipedes, we encountered a crazed vagrant who appears to be the cleric of a defeated adventuring party. We tangled with weird animated stone see/speak/hear-no-evil monkey statues and stumbled across dead bodies that appear to be the crazed cleric’s companions.

#OSRIC is one of of those #TTRPG projects that I'm fascinated by, and am absolutely rooting for as they put together their 3rd edition.

Despite this, I've got zero interest in playing or even reading it.

I just like that it exists.

OSRIC Session 3: Just steps into the Halls of Arden Vul a gang of halflings with poisoned daggers tried to extort money from the party. Legitimately broke, we talked our way past them and headed deeper.

Past a couple secret doors we discovered a cache of treasure recovered by other adventurers. We snatched it and ran full-tilt back to the surface, making enemies of the halflings. Got enough loot to hit level 2, though!

OSRIC Session 2: we poked around the surface of Arden Vul, found a frontier inn, and then ventured into the megadungeon proper. The Roman + Egyptian trappings are fun.

My grasp of the AD&D 1e rules is still imperfect, but it’s interesting comparing and contrasting with Basic and AD&D 2nd edition.
