#Planets of the Solar System: Tilts and Spins

Watch a time-lapse video comparing the spin of all eight planets in our Solar System. Jupiter spins fastest, Venus slowest and backwards. Early collisions affected rocky planets' spins. Planetary spin research continues with computer models and exoplanet studies.

Happy Space Science Saturday!
Caldwell 20, also known as the North America Nebula, is about 1800 light-years away in the constellation Cygnus. Its shape is said to resemble the North American continent, hence the nickname. This region is actively forming stars, particularly in a dense area called the Cygnus Wall.

Sandy Skies and Baby Moons: Webb Catches Giant Planets in Mid-Birth

scitechdaily.com/sandy-skies-a

Using the James Webb Space Telescope, scientists have directly imaged two massive, youthful exoplanets in the YSES-1 system—revealing silicate clouds, a moon-forming disk, and some of the most detailed exoplanet atmospheres ever studied. The findings challenge current planet formation theories and give us a rare glimpse at how gas giants lik…

This Giant Planet Shouldn’t Exist – But Astronomers Just Found It Around a Tiny Star

scitechdaily.com/this-giant-pl

A tiny star just one-fifth the mass of our Sun has shocked astronomers by hosting a gas giant planet, TOI-6894b—something long thought nearly impossible. The find, made through TESS data and confirmed by one of the world’s largest telescopes, challenges leading theories of planet formation. Discovery of a Planet Around a Tin…
