A grumpy bunny keeps a bothersome bird out of his personal space.
🦜💚 Researchers at the University of #Cincinnati studied how monk #parakeets form friendships by observing 179 new relationships in controlled settings. The #birds follow a careful “test the waters” approach, gradually increasing physical proximity and grooming behaviors before committing to deeper bonds, a pattern also seen in vampire #bats.

In this house the #budgies / #budgerigars live majority of the time outside their cage...
Sometimes called #parakeets... i thought somehow parakeet was a word closer to the indigenous term for it.. but it seems to be the contrary:
«First recorded in 1840–50; perhaps misrepresentation of an Australian Aboriginal language of northern New South Wales: gijirrigā (perhaps gijirr “yellow” or “small” + gā “head”)»

They started appearing in the 80s, legend has it the original pair were freed by Jimi Hendrix.

Some resplendent and loud parakeets on the biggest tree in my building's courtyard just now. Something of a 'throuple' situation going on....
