This spot lies on my cycling route to work. On this particular morning, without any wind to stir the waters, and with the just risen sun shining through a thin layer of mist, I just had to stop here. The conditions were too perfect to pass up this chance. Even without a proper camera, and with only a phone camera on me.
Soon, a few photography friends and I will be presenting each other our best shots of the past year. And with selecting your best shots, comes the dismissal of the ones you really like, but ultimately don't make the cut. I will be sharing those shots here, in chronological order. A very thin blanket of mist covered the Spaarne river, which itself had all but turned into a large mirror surface. The clouds had taken on the colour of the early morning golden hour, shortly after sunrise.

La neige est arrivée discrètement dans la nuit. Elle rend le trajet vers le boulot un peu plus sympa. Il fait à peine 0°C. On attend jusqu'à -10° ce week-end.

That's my arse-view as I stood in the middle of the public park right behind our house, admiring the view and trying 'fancy' shots on the camera while my partner took this quick #phoneshot, she was behind me.
These tall trees must be 70-80 years old, in this mid-century urban 'hood.

Excellent roman de Jean-Philippe Toussaint, paru en 1985 Aux Éditions de Minuit.
Et le soleil, indifférent à tout ce tumulte, se lève chaque matin avec le même enthousiasme.
C’est en 1937 à Verviers que fût construite l’Intervapeur, dans le but d’alimenter en chauffage les nombreuses usines textiles de notre ville et plus tard des maisons privées.
Des kilomètres de tuyaux enterrés (env. 70 kms) parcouraient la ville.
Sur les trottoirs on trouve encore de nombreuses plaques en fonte témoignant de ce glorieux passé.
