Installed Linux MX on my 12 yo Lenovo Z500. After some tweaking, it records and playbacks just perfectly, at 96kHz and a still acceptable 8ms latency (4ms, if I would play 'normally').
My typical stress test (running ridiculously fast arpeggiators and changing params in real time) turned out so much fun, that it'll become my new project!

It identifies the chords you play and shows you the notation and scales. And more stuff that I'm still figuring out.

I find the identification of chords appealing. #Bitwig doesn't offer this feature and sometimes I pull #Pianoteq just for this. Anyone aware of open source alternatives?

Practice session. Working through #SergeiRachmaninoff 's G minor prelude, slowly, out of tempo, and trying to hear everything, have clarity in colour, pedal cleanly, be expressive, and not hold on to any tension. Music is hard.

It took a little while but I did get another Linux Native VST demo out. This time an MKI Tremolo preset. I've started to include chapter markers to easily get to different registers and velocities.

There's something special about #Chopin's Prelude in E Minor (Op. 28, No. 4)… even in its relative simplicity there is a complexity and depth of emotion that may take a lifetime to perfect, while also lending to many nuanced interpretations. This one comes from an accident I had last month: I fell down a flight of stairs in my home, five seconds after waking up, shattering the display of my phone and spraining my right ankle. I switched to #pipewire on ubuntu 22.04 and so far it looks great. Midi keys lag disappeared as well as occasional pitch glitch of #pianoteq synth.

Only thing which was not working out of the box was routing midi events. There is GUI for this called #qpwgraph but how-tos are not mentioning it for some reason.
