After the best part of 2 years appending to my #OBTF, I've finally got my head around prepending. And I think it's my #PlainTextPlanner that's helped my neurons accept that this is a good move.
Working with the brain cell pathways, not trying to force them into what I'm told is the 'right' path, has taught me more about productivity than pretty much anything else.
This week: @johnnydecimal task management meets plain text, plus early thoughts on the new Obsidian iOS widget feature and its limitations.
"…for people with brains like mine that simply cannot cope with locking away tasks in a non-portable …format, plain text tasks can be a valid solution. Feel free to try and change my mind. I don't think you'll be able to, but I'm willing to hear you out."

This week I take a brief look at how my plain text productivity system has evolved this year. Also, my comments on some of @RussSharek 's plain text lifestyle thoughts.

If some of you are using @protonprivacy Protonmail, please ask for correct support of plaintext emails
Short: Proton smtp servers are removing the "format=flowed" header which means plaintext emails are often badly displayed when read on Gmail or other popular mobile app.
My plain text calendar started off following the calendar.txt format. Then it morphed into Markdown and became calendar.md.
Now it's planner.md! And I love it. It's just like a paper planner where you can plan both hours and tasks. This has been nearly 10 years in the making!
It really does work in any text editor, but I love the level-2* convenience of accessing it with #Obsidian.

I’ve used ⌘-hover to preview internal links in #Obsidian for years, but this week I discovered that it also works on tabs. Quite by accident I held down ⌘ while hovering over the name of a tab, and a 3rd-party-plugin-free, scrollable preview of that page appeared — with clickable links (!)

Hey #Libreoffice experts, I use em dashes a lot in my newer writing. I often save my work as plain text. I type em dashes and everything appears OK until I save it. All my em dashes become regular dashes. Is there anyway I could save it as a markdown file so the em dashes are preserved? On another note, I would highly encourage other authors to start learning how the em dash works. It really is an under utilized punctuation mark. #Markdown #PlainText
Brainwave! I am renaming my One Big Text File. It’s no longer an #OBTF, it’s a One Note Inbox. #1N Much more descriptive of how I actually use it, and it fits in nicely with my One Page Notebook.

Apparently Typora recently removed the ability to toggle fold on all sections at once.
Why???
That's not the kind of simplification that does anyone any good! Why not just leave it there? Use case: simple flashcards where fold all should be the default state.
Hi @ellane,
speaking of links: it's the mail agent's decision to display https://... in plain text unclickable. It could do otherwise.
What you surely loose is pretty/arbitrarily/deceptively labelled links.
And frictionlessly clickable links in emails is it's own can of worms (I'm happy to avoid). Those #phishing hate #plaintext #email.
As much as I love the idea of a fully plain text life, I've decided that naked email is, for me, a step too far. Switching to plain text email means losing product thumbnails, inline links, and visual formatting that makes some emails useful.
This week I've written about my response to the useplaintext.email website, plus some of the things I do to avoid the traps that HTML emails can hide.
