Ooh, my delivery of super mini nrf52840 have arrived. Look at this beauty next to an o/g nice!nano

It can do all the same at 2/3 of the footprint and 1/4 of the price. Plus it has a ceramic Bluetooth antenna so you’d never see BLE dropouts ever again!

I started looking into using a Pro Micro with an MSGEQ7 to process audio to make LED light strips change with music. I’ll need an input source as well as capacitors and resistors which I’ve ordered via Aliexpress. It will take a long time for those to arrive, but the cost savings is considerable. An MSGEQ7 is priced at $12 on Amazon and $1.17 on Aliexpress. #Microcontroller #ProMicro

About to try reflashing the firmware on the Lumberjack. The meme of the dog with the chemistry set comes to mind. Wish me luck lol

I'm looking for a little help #troubleshooting a #mechanicalkeyboard build if anyone feels froggy:

I am building a Lumberjack kit from KEEBD.com: keebd.com/en-us/products/lumbe

Build guide here: github.com/peej/lumberjack-key

I've gotten down to the "Software" section of the build guide. I should be at the point where I can plug the #USB in and bridge switch pins with tweezers to test that keystrokes are registering.

The first time I plugged it in, it turned my computer completely off. I plugged it into a laptop (brave, I know) and got "Power surge on USB port."

I reflowed the connections on the USBC connector, then checked them with Everything checks out per the instructions of the build guide. I think the USBC connector is good as far as I can tell.

Now, when I plug USB in, I get "The USB device has malfunctioned" from Windows. Bridging switch pins with tweezers does nothing.

They are alive!!!

I soldered all 30 of them, they all work nicely!

These will be some nice pro micro alternatives for mechanical keyboard projects!

They have 32 megabit nand flash, the biggest available at the factory.

Due to the #ChineseNewYear , they forgot to process my stamp hole #gerber update approval, and the order has been sitting for their processing confirmation state for over a week. Glad I checked by them this morning. Awesome!🤦 Currently it's in production. Can't wait to have them on my hands.

I got these as #usbc connectors from China. Got both of the variants just in case. #PCB is going to be 1.2mm thick.

An update on efforts. A little progress.

Got my Arduino-as-ISP wiring straightened up and I can indeed flash a bootloader onto my two bricked proMicros. I can similarly install my own programs using the "upload using programmer" option, which then programs the boards with the ICSP connections.

The boards run my code fine - except the USB of the 32u4 processor doesn't work.

Boards don't appear as a USB device, regardless of fresh bootloaders.

I've got (yet another) side project going which needs the .

This thing has the annoying feature of getting bricked very easily. Then the USB is no longer recognized, and you can't do anything with it.

Lots of sites outline a double-reset hit to bump it into bootloader mode briefly so you can put a new sketch onto it.

Unfortunately that isn't working for me. More reading. s

Tried to bootloader reload too, without luck. More attempts.

An arduino pro micro board is shown. It's a little circuit board about half the size of a stick of gum.

I'm making another split keyboard, it'll be another lily58 but using #promicro controller boards with #qmk and gateron red switches (more suitable for the office). I'm also adding oled screen and maybe some leds since this will be wired (work computer doesn't have bluetooth 🙁 )

I soldered a 30% #Gherkin #mechanicalkeyboard this weekend. Sports KAT Eternal keycaps and #QMK firmware. Both, the Gherkin design as well as QMK are free and open source software respectively hardware: qmk.fm/ + 40percent.club/ (No, it's not the new Raspberry Pi Pico based Gherkin, but the original #ProMicro based one. The #SparkFun Pro Micro is #openhardware as well.)

Note that I shifted the bottom row by 1u. Cant't work without offset there. Space is bottom right.

Anyone have experience flashing a #ProMicro on a mac?
