What is a good source for actual reporting on #ProjectStargate (the OpenAI-Nvidia-Oracle-Softbank alliance)? Nearly everything I can find is either just transcription of what they claim, or gossip-level coverage of Twitter fights.

I don't think they have $500b available to invest in new data centers. They might not even have $100b (although MSFT's Nadella says he has $80b ready to go) but deploying it within a year seems dubious. But I'd be interested in questions like:

* What do the finances actually look like, and what sort of ownership or partnership agreement is in place? Who owns or operates the data centers?
* Is this mostly buying GPUs from Taiwanese fabs? Or does it actually move the needle on U.S.-based manufacturing?
* Where is all the data center power going to come from?
* What sort of demand projections are driving this level of investment? Are they at all credible?

This seems like an incredible level of boondoggle in the making.

I really think #ProjectStargate is more a response to Chinese AI data centers than anything else.

The amount of money being bet on this trend is too big to fail.

OpenAI wspólnie z firmami Softbank, Oracle i MGX ogłosiły plany stworzenia nowej spółki o nazwie Stargate. Nowa spółka, zgodnie z zapowiedziami nowego POTUS Donalda Trumpa, ma zainwestować pół biliona dolarów (500 mld) w infrastrukturę do obliczeń AI.

Ta gigantyczna kwota ma być zainwestowana w celowe działania znacząco wspomóc rozwój sztucznych inteligencji w ciągu najbliższych czterech lat. Oświadczenie, w którym zadeklarowano planowaną kwotę inwestycji zostało złożone podczas wtorkowego spotkania w Biały Domu. Donald Trump nazwał ten pomysł największym projektem infrastruktury AI w historii.

„Ta infrastruktura zapewni amerykańskie przywództwo w dziedzinie AI, stworzy setki tysięcy amerykańskich miejsc pracy i wygeneruje ogromne korzyści ekonomiczne dla całego świata” – napisało OpenAI w oświadczeniu prasowym. „Ten projekt nie tylko wesprze reindustrializację Stanów Zjednoczonych, ale także zapewni strategiczną zdolność do ochrony bezpieczeństwa narodowego Ameryki i jej sojuszników”.

Stosowny komunikat OpenAI ogłosiła również za pośrednictwem platformy X:
