This is a black and white abstract photo in landscape format of a short length of abandoned train tracks with grass growing between the sleepers (railroad ties). California (2016).

Stretching away from the camera from the lower left and right corners are two rusting train rails that converge towards the centre with increasing distance. Between the rails and on either side, are grey and black, weathered railway sleepers with short, light grey, almost white, grass growing from the gaps between. To the right there is a single parallel rail, perhaps part of a second track? To the left of our track is a long, thick metal rod, again parallel to the tracks.

The location: Pier 43, a train ferry pier, on the Embarcadero, San Fransisco.
