'Yessongs' is the first live album (and as a triple-LP!!) by Yes, and chronicles the progressive rockers during two of their tours in the early '70s: 'Fragile' and 'Close To The Edge' — in short, the golden years. Admittedly, I am not too fond of the sound quality in parts, but it is not as bad as some people might have claimed. Nonetheless, the musicianship and compositions are astounding and delightful to hear respectively. Moreover, the cover artworks by Roger Dean and the gatefold packaging for three records are quite cool. For me, it is a no brainer that if you are a Yes fan, or into old-school progressive rock, then this should be your in record collection, even if other, newer live albums might have superseded it since its original release 50 years ago on this day.
