More roses in my garden.

This rosebush was originally transplanted (unwanted) from a neighbor's yard, where it never bloomed and they thought it was just a little thorn bush. Some years, it blooms well; other years, not much at all. This is a good year.

A sweet student trimmed the rose bush for us. We were running around with a friend from the Philippines and stopped by the house by chance, but just in case she had her rose-trimming set in her bag. I just let everything run wild and hope for the best, but it's fascinating to see how much more new green is on this bush after it's been trimmed by someone that knows what they're doing. We got this rosebush during a trip to Minamata. They have a big rose garden, all sorts of varieties on part of the land fill that's supposed to encase a lot of the mercury and other industrial effluent poisons. There is a rose market festival at some point during the year and we happened to be visiting at that time. The Silky chickens seem to feel safe under there, it's good that we have another place for them to hide from crows, a falcon (or hawk that one week or so) and feral cats...
